Don’t forget the part about throwing fuel economy and reliability out the window too

Put on some decent AT tires and the truck will go everywhere 95% of the people here go without any issue.

If you build it small it's not bad. My girlfriend had taken a liking to camping and normally how long we are gone we take 2 husky totes with all of the crap we need and 2 ice chests. Being a short bed with a toolbox, swingout and room for 6 fuel cans is a bitch and leaves little room in the bed. Before all that I could toss it in the bed and go.

You must go on pretty remote/long trips to need all that.
Most my trips are 2-3 day and not far enough from civilization to need that much equipment. Thats a lot of gas haha

Dudes act like 3 straps and a zipper is a mountain of a production to start the day. Haha

I'm well beyond a season vet with camping. Who the hell is getting out of bed and rolling within 3 minutes anyways? Haha. Not a single person, special circumstances aside.

I get up and get a cup of coffee going. Everything is well done by then

You’re totally right. I’ve got no quantifiable evidence that Roof top tents produce poor etiquette. There are terrible types of all kinds of campers. But the less accessible places are where these tents go, or in my mind where I always see them. And I know if I’m on the white rim or way out in the swell and see these I highly doubt it’s the minimalist back packer or adventure bike that’s leaving behind a shitstorm.

I sold my RTT because I thought it was unsafe for young kids. I worked hard building it too.

Again, no evidence. But the more stuff you bring in the more likely it is the more stuff you’ll leave. Everytime I see RTTs they’ve got everything but their kitchen sink.

Backpackers try to shed weight. Throw it aside.

So yeah. We taking maybes? A lot easier to throw junk in a truck.

So to summarize this thread: Guy's who don't have roof top tents have more opinions about roof top tents than guys that have roof top tents.

There's a whole lot of butthurt and exaggeration in this thread.
