Then get off of it? Be proactive, throw caution to the wind.

Or maybe just chill the fuck out.

I’m really not talking about pay site campsites, but go into the backcountry and look for yourself. It doesn’t take an idiot to put two and two together.

It’s an annoying channel for sure, but the interesting thing is the tent was trash, and CVT decided to just give him a new one (because Youtuber) but he still posted the vid of the mold farm. I give him credit for that.

Most people aren’t in the position to be given a new tent, so it’s a good warning to others.

Wouldn’t any tent, ground or roof top, grow mold after 18 days if packed away wet? Seems like any equipment can have a reduced life expectancy if not properly cared for.

They gave him a free $3000 tent, and he still fucked ‘em right over (while talking all nice about them). His cred went up in my mind. Though, I’m not certain I could take much more of the vids.

Without actual facts to back up your claim, sounds to me like it’s just your own confirmation bias.

No. My tents do not go moldy (mainly because of this awesome invention, where I take them out of the back of my truck and put them in my bone dry, heated garage). They dry out without even unpacking them, as they are not super heavy material like a RTT, and they are in breathable bags, not under some vinyl cover greenhouse.

The biggest bonus, is if they do go moldy, you can put in the washing machine if a small tent, or buy another one for $150 (not $3000), but that’s never happened to me.

Wow! That must be a miracle material. I’ve always had to air out all my ground tents when I got home if I put them away wet. Even my Mountain Hardware mountaineering tent has to be dried out prior to storage.

That’s pretty much what I see as well. Any self-respecting camper would appreciate the pros and cons of any setup. I have my go-to camping spots that are perfect for ground tents, and I’ve found spots that are just way more fun with an RTT, so depending on where I go, I plan accordingly and I always pack my ground tent along with my rtt in case I ever want to switch it up during my trip. Hell, I probably will look into a good hammock tent setup for this summer.

I agree, it's just dumb that guys have to act like something works for every situation. People are always trying to pick sides on something.

I kayak fish for bass a ton and often do overnight floats where I hammock camp on a river island or somewhere remote. Shoot me a PM if you want some recommendations re hammock stuff.

So you give him credit because he's a guy reviewing camping gear who clearly has no idea what he's talking about because he didn't air out his gear after ? And then blamed the tent for getting moldy?

    Brilliant

I don’t think a cheap tent will stand up to the weather on Denali. It gets breezy at 17,000 feet. I’m starting to doubt your credibility as an outdoor equipment expert.
