I carry bear spray and a handgun (when legal) whenever I go out into the woods so I’m neutral on that debate. I’m sure there are quite a few folks who think one is better than the other, but honestly, it’s a never-ending debate with hardly anyone bringing real-world experience to the table.... which is why this guy here usually has both options when he dips out into the woods.

 

The only thing I don't like is that I would probably be bumping the switches every time I reached into the cubby, or tried to put something there. And I use that spot all the time.

 

I also use that cubby, and hadn't thought about bumping the switches there.
I had considered putting the switches in the face of the flip-down storage that suits in front of the interior fuse box, but then realized the surface is cupped, not flat. Tiffany wants me to put the switches in the center console, but I'm hesitant with that too...

 

Go with this. Then make some adjustments on the left side of the dash.

 

I like matts setup . but im too lazy to for that.

I'm trying to get it all installed this weekend.
I may just throw them up there, and evict the wife's sunglasses...

 

I have the center console and wiring is probably easier there if running multiple things like lights etc. I’m guessing you have to pull the headliner down and run much longer wires to get to the upper panel but it’s doable and probably cleaner but you do lose that sunglasses cubby.

 

I had planned to put my compressor/locker switches in the lower left switch panel area. Mostly because i can be weird/OCD (but you know this)and want all my "vehicle control panel" stuff together (abs kill switch, traction control switches, airbag roll sensor kill switch).

Planned to get a @mesojdm overhead console panel for all my lighting switches. Whenever the 6 switch model comes back in stock ( )

I’ve gotta pack all my (planned) lights into 6 switches cuz I sure won’t have enough for the 10 switch model lol


Edit: but I also don’t use that cubby for some reason.

 

Theres a pretty big difference between the first and second/third gen tundras

Take one for group and do it and then tell us how it fits and how much more truck needs to be chopped. I will try to go with 37's once these 35's wear out.

 

Hmm, like a PTT switch? I never even considered that before. Always assumed id be using the standard wired mic to the mobile unit.

I’m not worried about cutting. I’m more worried about the steering rack shitting the bed.

 

I've already snaked wiring for my microphone and dash cam up the pillar and over to the mirror; I didn't pull the headliner down to do it, and would probably be able to run these wires the same way.
What center console do you have?

I've already filled the lower left section by adding two light switches:



I've considered adding the two ARB switches to the outer edges of the tray shown above, and may still do it.


I had these two blanks on the left:

...and thought they'd go down there, but Don reminded me of why this might be a bad idea. I do have a dual-USB (power-only) unit to go into the right blank.



I do have two sunglass holders, but they're the '12+ model that presses to release, so I guess I'm concerned about flush mounting the switch panel there, and having the whole door release and pivot down when I press a switch.
