He does on his trailer. Said it before, I'd totally do a swag if I was solo... they're not so great for two and my hands are tied on that one. I'll get nothing but shit if I leave her behind haha

originally i was going to go the RTT route. Never owned one but would love to try it for a night. After thinking about it for about a year i opted with a hard shell cap and bed drawers and here is why:

hard shell, better stand up to the weather, so long as its weather proofed.
    still off the ground
very quick set up. 1) open tailgate 2) open door 3) Fin
loss of storage augmented by set of bed drawers that I built up

I think most of the people in thread have never used a rtt in their life and just like to hate on them the because they think sleeping on the ground is more manly. It’s just like the manual owners here.

Wherever you got the idea that you don’t have to make the bed is not even close. There is no chance you are going to be able leave everything in the tent a mess and still be able to close it. Mine has to be made nearly perfectly in order to still get it to close nicely.

I agree. To me it's nothing about sleeping on the ground nor making my bed considering you have to make it to fit hardly anything inside of one and have it close, so neither of those points have any sort of validation to most people who have a RTT.

So you are saying there’s like 140 bullshitters here......

I could easily say there’s 182 people trying to defend their purchase, but y’know that’s not likely the case.

RTTs are not a ‘slam dunk’. I believe we will continue to see their popularity decline as people discover their downsides, and also better and easier ways of truck camping. They will retain a niche audience, but these days where every major Offroad brand is getting their logo stencilled on the same Chinese tent are likely over.

I'm just not sure why you're so defensive of your setup, that's all.

Speaking the real truth right here. Everyone's a hater and some people actually mean it. If you hate sleeping on the dirt or setting up footprints for your tent, a RTT is the way to go. So what if people like the RTT tent look. It's their money and they can make their trucks look the way they want. I always bring this up with my Tacoma friends. What's the difference between the altezza taillight or BMW halo craze in the 2000's and people putting on raptor lights on a Tacoma? Theres no difference in terms of modding. Yet we consider the altezzas ricing out your car and the raptor lights acceptable. In the end, you do you.

    Which one?

I couldn't care less what people think of RTTs. The topic is Yes or No on RTTs. Just filtering out the BS.

Me? I've got 4 trips in this year alone already. :notsure: Just spreading the truth bub.

Anything else left to add about a RTT you dont own?

You keep bringing up China for manufacturing but look at all the parts on your truck, the clothes you wear, your electronics.
Manufacturing is what they do, and we buy it, all of us at some point.
I wouldn't single out RTT as the one item that is not allowable to be made by China. If I can buy local then for sure I try to, that is definitely the best way.

    Calgary! And yourself?
Just a basic solar set up and a candle lantern to take the chill out. Keeping it simple.
I like how yours fits in the truck, mine requires a small skid to elevate it to clear wheel wells. Trailer is pretty hassle free though so there it sits.

    Sure do!

I've got a limelite 3p and a Tepui kukenam sky. Normally I travel with both.
