I have a Glock 17 that has night sights on it and no other modifications. I am shooting easily 1 foot left at 15-20 yards. I have a friend with a steel plate rack and I would shoot at one plate and hit the one to it's left. I used both my subcompacts (Glock and Smith&Wesson) and his .45ACP 1911 and could ring a 3" plate out at 25 yards 7/10 times. Why is it doing this with my full-size G17?

I measured exactly to the center of the slide, and used a sight pusher to install and align the sights. I even measured for the front sight. I have installed aftermarket sights on three other pistols without issue. I also noticed that the slide on the 17 isn't completely level with the frame, it's tilted to the right very slightly.

I gave it to my friend and he did the same thing with it, about a foot to the left. I have no idea what to do other than push the sights all the way right, which I don't think is a good fix. I'll upload some pics later of how far I had to move the sights to get it close to zeroed. It's still shooting left by about 2 inches.

    Thanks for your advice.

Exactly what I had to do with my Gen 3 Glock 23. Dead steady hitting left every shot. I drifted the rear sight (factory) to where the base of the site is flush with the slide and it's hit dead on the money ever since.

If the slide isn't setting right, could a rail guide have gotten tweaked at some point? I'd be lookin' real close at those. Compare to a know straight shooting 17 if possible. Sumpin' don't sound right.

Yeah mine has to be even farther to the right. I'll probably just grind the edge of the sight down so it doesn't poke out though.

I looked at that but they look exactly the same as my friends G22. It was like that brand new, but I didn't notice it until I brought it home. I'm gonna go sight it in with my pusher sometime soon and as long as it's consistent it'll be alright.

I never shot it before the night sights, but I put the new sights on with a pusher and measured exactly, so there's almost no way I messed anything up. I'm OCD about that kind of stuff haha. My other Glock is a tack driver with sights installed the same way. The front sights on both are loctited and measured exactly as well. Just weird that a brand new gun is shooting so far off.

I swore my G43 was doing the same thing. But after shooting it a few more times it was me. I think it was from the trigger pull

Huh, well I'll shoot it over sandbags or something the next chance I get to be able to rule that out. It definitely could be the indian and not the arrow.

Yeah I've seen that chart in my CCW class, and it's definitely helpful for a new shooter. I've actually been planning to go shoot with a friend who's just getting into shooting pistols and that chart could be helpful, so thanks!

If that was the case though, I must be using much too little trigger finger on that pistol only, and then great trigger control on all my other ones. I'm not 100% able to rule out trigger control until I go to the range and shoot over sand bags, but seeing as I shoot all 3 other pistols just fine, I don't think that's going to be the main cause.

You would move your front sight left to make it shoot right, or your rear sight right to make it shoot to the right.

You move the front the opposite direction you want the point of impact to move, and the rear moves the same way you want the POI to move.

On my glock the front sight is not adjustable, its a little bolt basically . . Any adjustments at least on my glock are made by the rear sight only.

Have you swapped the upper from another one? I always do that to see if it’s the upper or lower that is causing the issue. I saw my groups opening up and it wound up being the front sight got loose and was throwing me off.
