I can't see coming around to that frame of mind. I like to set up the tent once, not forty times. Inflate mattress, spread out the sleeping bag or some sheets if it's warm, hang a light and keep a few other things in there that I don't want to have to pack up every time we need to run into town, hit the crag, or go hit a trail. Not to mention we use the vestibules to store a few of our bins and extra shoes.

Now that we're getting a little older but not traveling much less, I think having a teardrop with all of those things already set up right out the door is going to be incredible. Stop, unhitch, level (optional), done. Hop in the truck and start doing donuts around all the immobilized rtt campers.

Sleeping bag and pillows into sack. Flip, strap strap strap, zip and done.

If you're doing 4 or 5 trips out of Camp a day, you're still only setting it up for bed and closing it once in the morning to travel.

But some people like to have a more fixed set up for their own reasons and that's where a ground tent works great too

If I didn't haul dirtbikes all the time, this would be the way to go. No setup time, the regular use gear always stays in the drawers. A tall shell is great for extra room. I haul mountain bikes and kayaks weekly too but those could go on top of this setup. I'm looking at a softopper to get some of the perks of both. Might do a single drawer on one side.

Haha damn this is a nice set up!!
I’m on the same page as you. I love my RTT but the ultimate set up for me would be to create a sleeping platform in my existing camper shell. I just have a hard time giving up the space back there. If I had more garage space i would just make a removable sleeping platform (with very simple storage) so that I can remove it when I want.
Cost wise- a nice shell like yours isn’t cheap!! I would use my current one but not as big unfortunately. A new shell would be more than my RTt

    Lmao that’s funny.

I’m the black sheep of RTT
My camping gear is 3 bins from Home Depot lol. 1 is random cooking shit. I open and pray what I needs in there. The second is a bin for my stove n gas.The third is my fishing bin. Then an old kanga styrofoam cooler I got from a catering gig. A chair thrown in the back. Then a bag of clothes with a toothbrush. I constantly get remarks when I’m out especially when I don’t whip up a Denny’s breakfast. Usually go with a cliff bar

2 and a cooler for me! One for food. Another for camp items. And the beer holder Has some food in it too. Normally I just do pasta ahead of time and some oatmeal for breakfast

This thread is hilarious. It's degrading into who camps better than someone else. Some of y'all really have some real insecurities if you can't let others enjoy the outdoors unless they do it your way.

This is really anything. Look at backpackers. They have more gadgets than anyone.

I won’t lie, part of the reason I go camping is to play with that stuff. Most of the camping gear I bring is from the backpacking world as well.

Sure. I'm just having fun. I don't really care what people sleep in.

I don't know if its about better camping. I think it's just everyone has different values to camping. No problem there!
For me it's just being outdoors. I fucking love it. I get 80% enjoyment out of that. The other 10% is drinking a silver bullet out there. The other 10 is being with my GF if shes there.
For some they love to play around with equipment. Good for them. I think my headlamp is badass so I can relate.

Also, just cus there are people that camp with a few "home depot buckets" doesn't make them any better or worse. It's just that they find enough enjoyment with what they do. I fricking LOVE nice "rigs". I know a bunch. There are so many things that would make my camping "nicer" and I'd take it! I'm not above nice shit or being glamorous. I'm just happen to be in a fortunate position where I can throw 60+% of my earnings into savings and retirement accounts. Right now with my position in life I attribute more value to that than buying everything I can. In my eyes I can't afford to have the savings I want right now, and ball out on a bunch of shit. I admire people that can do both. More power to them. My long term goals wont allow it.

I have the same thing, 2 bins from Home Depot that we throw everything in and a cheap Target cooler. I use an $8 blue tarp as an awning zip tied to the tent.

    Awesome!!
When I did a week long Oregon trip it was pissing rain and snow a couple days and that's exactly what my buddy and I did. Worked pretty well actually. Luckily we had a tarp the first night and the second we got a little bigger one.

EDIT: Looked at picture again. Love it very minimalist and relaxing.
    This is in CA?
