Has anyone ever seen this before.... I was driving on the beltway this morning behind a JK Wrangler. The guy hits his brakes and then puts his hazard lights on, so I slow down. I noticed his front left and right tires are wobbling violently and we're going about 60mph. So me and the semi in the lane over throw our flashers on and give this guy room. I figured he would pull over, but he just slowed down to about 20 mph, and the wheels stabalized. Then he got back up to speed, shut his hazards off and off he went like nothing happened. The wheels and tires looked stock... Loose lugs? He was crazy for continuing on...

Jeeps are notorious for the "death wobble". Odd if it was on stock suspension though. Typically it's steering stabilizers that are the issue.

I have had a wrangler for 15 years and never experienced it like what I witnessed. What I have experienced is in emergency braking situations, the truck will shutter and wobble slightly. But this looked like his wheels were about to fall off.

My buddies did the death wobble real bad. Had to do exactly what you saw to stop it

I saw that video, and yes, that's exactly what it looked like, but without a lift and stock tires. Again, I've driven over 120k miles on a TJ and never experienced this. I knew when hard braking, I would lose some control, but this is insane.

I'm a Jeep guy too. But mine's a '78 CJ. I have zero knowledge about these new Jeeps. I just know it's a very common problem for them. But like I said, I think it's very strange that it was doing it on stock suspension. Although, the way you said the driver reacted, it sounds like maybe it wasn't the first time it hapened and his current workaround is to slow down till it quits and go back to giving it hell. :notsure:

Would anyone like to join myself, @UntamedTaco and @boogie3478 at green ridge saturday? It's supposed to be nice out so rather than sit inside, we can cruise around outside! If we wanted to get fancy, we could have a little BBQ potluck out there for lunch. If not, I was planning on cooking lunch anyways.
