What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Upgraded the cluster, super easy.

 

This is why you use dielectric grease.

 

Replacing my door handles. (Driver side broke). They lasted 16 years so I figured I’d go OEM.

 

I thought it was the other way around But honestly the best thing to do is take your door panels off and just spray some lubricant around there and it's perfect. @Blackdawg has a write-up in Igors build, literally makes 10x the difference in opening doors

 

I’ll do it myself. Doesn’t look too hard.

Debating on if I should replace the turbine unit too or just do the bearings in the nose cone. I’m forced to rebuild it so I can have it powdercoated.

Kept hearing a random clunk so I got under and discovered both my CV boots slid up exposing underneath and letting grease fling out

I have OME 887 Coils in the front and Expos in the rear giving it approx 3-4” of lift.

If I take the clamps off and put other hose clamps on after sliding the boot(s) down, will that work as an easy fix, does anybody know??

Funny you posted this, I just noticed the same issue on my truck and was going to ask about re-clamping.

 

Never checked it when I put the motor in. I’ll add some when I put it back together.

 

My dad bought this one in 2004 with 55k on it. I wouldnt call it very reliable as most say they are.

 

Meant to post this yesterday, but I ditched the RTT and rack. The old girl has never looked better.

Looks good. I'd love to take mine off when I'm not using it. Need a place I can store it tho. And a way to lift it by myself.

 

The best place I've found to store the rack and tent is craigslist.org

As much as I can. Going from RTTs and Maxtrax to dual cases, lockers f/r and 35s. Probably won't get around to locking the front and 35s until Winter. Keeping the snorkel because I don't feel like trying to find a a new passenger fender. I'll worry about it more when it comes time to SAS.

Your boots don’t look like they moved at all, there is a groove the boot sits in and the clamp just keeps it from popping out. You would be able to see the groove if they slid up. Sure they’re not just torn or something?

 

I like being able to use my tent still. 35s, dual cases and lockers will also be in my future.
