If I can’t have an army green Tacoma, I’ll just do this.

    Very nice.
Is it actually army green? I don't see that on the chart...or any color that comes close.
    Maybe Sherwood green.

I know it's the guitar thread, but I thought I'd share my collection.

My pride and joy is in the middle. 1995 Warwick Thumb 6, neck through. It's the most amazing bass I've ever played. I played the shit out of it and it almost never went out of tune. I had EMG's put in as I had to have what Les Claypool was using.

It's better now than it was new. It proves that it's worth spending a lot on a musical instrument. Everyone thought I was nuts to spend my Grandpa's will money on it. Turns out I couldn't have possibly spent it on anything better:)

Actually it’s a Chicago Music Exchange exclusive Fender special run color
Olive with a mint guard. It’s a bit more muted in person
It’s the same as the mustang olive, I believe.

Hi y'all. I just purchased a guitar and last night. I'm looking for some advice on which route to go for learning to play? 1 on 1 lessons, books, videos, etc..

    Welcome!
I play by "tab" mostly. Very easy to learn.
Lots of YouTube vids if you want to learn certain songs.

Hit up private lessons if you want to learn theory and such.

There's also a crap ton of backing tracks on YouTube as well.

I'm self-taught, but if I were starting over, I would find the best teacher I could in the style I wanted to play and take some lessons. There are tons of resources online if 1 on 1 is not an option. Lessons will help you progress much more quickly (if you practice) and will help you to avoid bad technique.

It REALLY depends what you're looking to do. If you want to become a master, learn theory from someone unless you already know some basic music theory. If you just want to learn songs that you know and play along or play in a cover band, learn tabs. I suggest if you learn tabs you still want to learn some theory (again if you haven't already) because things will make more sense like chord progressions and such. I'd say first just youtube your major and minor chords and get a feel for chords.

I have utilized two different online sources of lessons. They both offer a large volume of free, and some paid lessons. Both are excellent. If you want a really structured curriculum, there’s Justin Guitar(Justin Sandercoe).
I also really like Marty Music (Marty Schwartz)
The close up shots are excellent with Marty.
I also found that the feature on the YouTube app that allows you to slow down the playback.
Congratulations on the decision to learn! I have only been playing 7 months, and I find it very satisfying, relaxing, and fun.
