    Hey All,

Just had my Extang Solid Fold 2.0 delivered yesterday and did the quick install this afternoon. I think I have good alignment with the cover but I had to set up the rear brackets at the very edge of the bed rail sysyem and was forced to take off the caps. I've looked at pics of other installs and didn't see this issue..

Is this just my poor skills or a possible defect?

Any advice would be appreciated as always!

That's good to hear that I'm not crazy! Haha thank you. And that's a great idea I may have to do that to the brackets. I'm definitely happy with the cover aside from that spacing issue! Upgraded from a soft top Gator Trifold Pro that held up surprisingly well for 2 years until it met it's match in the form tree falling on my truck

I had to remove the caps but replaced them after installation. Very happy with it on my 2018 DCLB!

What do you guys use on the rails to keep water out. Not really leaking up front but at the back hinge its right on the stupid part of the textured plastic rail. I remove my cover some times so nothing permanent.

I got this Extang last week and also had the same issue where I had to leave off the end caps also. I also have the foam seals but water still drips in at the car wash. Today is the first day I get of rain after installing so I will check if any water gets in today. But I am not worried about it does seem like much water gets in, maybe a couple of ounces of water.

Just tighten the rear "hold-downs". Should not leak at all. You do know there is a nut in the end of the handle to tighten it? Try to lift the cover when closed...if you can lift it, tighten her.

Correct, I have no leaks and it is 6 months old and through its first winter. I do go out and remove the snow, just in case. I really like the cover. I even called them account one of the brackets broke in shipping. They sent one out to me immediately .

It wont be waterproof. Get a bed mat, that way any water that gets in drips down the side of the bed and goes UNDER the bedmat and drains thru the holes in the bed. This keeps things back there dry from my experience.
Extang also says not to go thru automatic car washes iirc, and when you use a pressure washer wand, be mindful of blasting the sides. I aim the wand DOWN across the side of the cover and bedside, not horizontal at the side of the bed/cover.

Of course ymmv..... Also dont forget to adjust the rear handle tension so it holds the cover down securely. Just use a socket in the underside of the rear handles.

    I was thinking about this....
Wouldnt u want the camper tape stuck to the bed rail? That way when pulling it off (for whatever reason), the rubber seals on the cover will not be pulled on or distorted. The bedrails wont be effected by pulling the camper tape off of it.

Also check the front mounting clamps once in awhile... My cover shifts over time, and sometimes the clamps up front loosen a hair.

Totally agree... I tossed that around in my head a few times recently.

Camper tape is cheap and i would rather buy it than worry about the rubber seals on the extang.

    Thats personal preference i spose.

I have the same issue here with no bed caps and almost mounted to the end. I have had this installed for almost a year with no issues.

Oh shes tight. I got it with the truck so its like 3 years old. The rubber flaps are pretty much flats on the cover side and the bed rail has this groove at the seam where a few drops come in. not a big deal just curious if there was a solution.

That's the best you'll get, likely.

Floor mat helps to keep shit dry. Good luck my man.:canada:
