I'm all about as luxurious as possible to hangout outside. My goal is now to get that topper ez lift from earlier in the thread, and build a solar setup. No TV, but bring my laptop with me so I can work at night and enjoy nature during the days. There's people that bring a hammock or just a blanket even and no tent. I'm sure they think ground tent campers are pussies too. I guess I'm too old to care what people think of how I do things. To me, whatever gets you interested in nature.

Yeah some people suck and litter and treat the earth like shit, or just stay up all night blaring their music, and I did that when I was younger too. I'm guessing some of y'all have done that at least once in your lives too. You learned a long time ago, and others are learning for their first time. It helped me evolve to someone that cares about nature now and if I have to help pick up after someone every now and then, big deal, I've earned it. I just can't be that angry when I'm in nature. It ruins my trip.

Hey now, light beer has a time and a place. It's just usually: all day, in the sun.

And don't get started on the "pabst is best, bud light is best, etc." Its all hydration-beer as I like to call it. And all preferential. I can get into why, if you are curious though.

I make it a point to grab a rack of Hamms once a month. $7.99 at the liquor store on my way home.

I like to keep it real with cheap beer, especially when camping. I enjoy myself some craft-brewed piss, truly appreciate an ice-cold Heineken, but yeah......mass-market beer has its place. You get a taste for it.

Keeping things really simple, all the light American lagers are basically the same beer with different adjuncts. Beer, to qualify as beer per US Federal law must contain at least 50% barley in their grain bill. So 50% of the malt you use needs to be barley in order to be considered beer. Malt liquors violate this rule, and thus are called malt liquor (im keeing this simple). An adjunct is a type of grain (well, fermentable sugar) that you add to your malt to change the flavor profile. For example, Hefeweizen's use wheat as their primary adjunct (you can have more than one adjunct). Though back in the day, adjuncts were usually added because barley got to be expensive, so people had to find different ways of keeping their costs down. Sometimes they added pure sugar, other times they added wheat, or rice, corn, etc.

Now, for light American lagers - one of the primary differences in them is the adjunct they use. Pabst I believe uses wheat. Coors uses corn. Budweiser uses rice. So, at least for differences between our "hydration-beers" its generally an adjunct preference, as I believe their hop bill is generally nothing special (aka not hoppy), and you're not going to get a ton of complexity out of a light lager anyway.

I prefer coors or bud. Can't stand pabst because I don't like the wheat taste. I also generally don't like American hefe's, and am very picky about European ones too.

Times sure have changed. When I was a kid we pulled the tab on the soda can and dropped it back in the can. The idea was that it was better than dropping the tab on the trail or camping area ground (which many people also did, kinda like cigarette butts). Try stepping on that tab in bare kid feet!

That’s interesting. I’m not much of a germaphobe, but the idea of swilling a beer after you pulled the tab with your sweaty fingers and dropped it in the can kinda weirds me out.

Unless you pour a super foamy beer. A tiny bit of grease from the side of your nose will git that foam right good.

Yeah, true. Also you would kind of curl the tab as you pulled it so when you dropped it in it was less likely to pour out. That wasn't also the case however, many time I would end up with the pull tab back on my mouth!

Oh yeah. We even have guns, Major League Baseball and American flags and shit. You should check it out. When you don't get too close to the cities, it's almost like being in America actual.

For real. I remember the first time I went east of the Sierras.... almost never came back. Also one of the reasons I bought my truck in the first place!

If it's "hydration-beer" then by definition it IS fucking close to water.

Of course, the problem with thinking beer is hydration is that it isn't. Alcohol dehydrates so if you are downing a 6 pack while shooting the shit at your camping spot you probably aren't ending up well hydrated.
