All housings are the same footprint(or pretty darn close) to their original OEM replacement. EXCEPT for BD5/BD5-NMO. Which had to be elongated to accommodate the 5th light everyone so desperately wanted.

@mesojdm Are the BD models shipping with black M4 hardware? I just noticed they were black in some of your pictures instead of the stainless ones that come with the BD rock lights.

    Hey @mesojdm !
Is the NMO for a CB antenna and would it work with a Frontrunner roof rack? And is only the 4 light BD one have the 2 angled down and 2 straight back or the fiver too?

Debating on dropping the headliner or just going in from the outside. Guys, if I decide to drop the headliner and I have a @mesojdm dome, do I need to remove the whole thing or just the hooks in the back, the oh shit handles, and the trim pieces on the sides?9DB249DE-C5AF-4BCC-A12A-9EF458602932.jpg

Step one is to re-do that wiring job. Electrical tape is not a permanent solution. Either solder and shrink wrap, or use the crimp style connectors and a heat gun to melt the glue.

I’m no dummy haha. They’re all crimped and heated. Just tossed on some super 33+ as well.

You are going to be hard pressed to find a CB freq band NMO type mount that is a non-ground plane antenna. It has to be non-ground plane because you are mounting it on a plastic housing. Regular NMOs have a toothed washer under them or something similar that bites into a metal mounting surface to ground the exterior portion of the NMO.

There’s like one kit I’ve seen that is essentially a metal ring that you put on the bottom of an NMO and run a wire to a nearby ground point to act as a body ground. Who knows if it makes for great or crappy performance.

Like this (could probably make one yourself)
    https://ktperformance.net/i-2391554...MI7MPCk8u34QIVQ16GCh26_AwFEAQYCCABEgJqo_D_BwE

Adding to that, CB NMO Antennas are also going to be quite long (4ft+) if clearance is an issue.

I will say the brake light NMO setup would be great for a Ham antenna or a GMRS antenna. I plan on moving my 2m radio antenna to the Meso brake light I bought. The higher frequency antennas are easier to get a NGP antenna for.

When I did mine, I dropped the headliner.
In the back seat area -behind the SRS badge is a 10mm bolt.
Oh Shit handles have 2 Squeeze Clips
Laundry hooks have the same squeeze clips
Rear light has 2 squeeze clips
Rear pillar has the standard white panel clips
I actually opened the rear slide window then dropped the headliner - went in to the truck bed and removed the 2 10mm nuts through the slide window that hold the 3rd break light with a deep socket - LOL

Love my 3rd Brake light set up now!

    This thing is BRIGHT!! :eek::thumbsup:

I'll upload a quick "install guide" in the next day or two. I took pictures of the whole process since it's a bit different than the 3rd gen setup.

Did you set up one of the lights as a bed light? I'll be looking out for your write-up!!

Nope, I kept it as 3 brake lights for now. I considered a bed light but the light I got from Meso is setup for brake lights only, and for a 2nd gen it's basically plug and play to set it up as I have it.

    Quick 2nd gen Install Guide

    1. Place BD lights in Meso housing. Trim wires short as there is not much room once you remove the OEM brake light lens.
    2FYsqUoA56CWy8ZMqva85DOQQYtOgEcpcqTQHFjm_5d57b090a35c2470a1905f4f6b24aee24ef4ac0a.jpg

    2. Solder and heat shrink wrap the connections.
NOTE: You can fully bolt in the middle light at this point for easier install.
    klfCWHATVs3nS_Ix0CrQB-0fPhhnmCDVZHnEPYih_10ed9c6f438bafcb6d8c9705b36b68f914e5fd17.jpg

    3. Connect the Meso-Plugs into the stock bulb socket. There is an o-ring around the chrome piece that will probably fall out when you remove the lens, you must re-install this to keep it water tight!
NOTE: These Meso-Plugs are directional!! MESO script on the plug must be installed facing right.
    GP2CPcReKNjPRYXA7i8_7kLclTD2qby_h-MpXLwe_4ca77f6edb4b30135a17cf666d9544640ef6cc96.jpg

    4. Bolt the Meso housing into back onto the truck using the OEM bolts. Pull as much slack out from the BD lights as it's a bit tough pushing wire through the hole at this point.

    5. I added a little bit of sealer into the bolt holes and wire holes for added waterproofing.

    6. Enjoy your new Meso light!
