Rear Spring TSB

So after writing Toyota explaining the bad experience I had at the dealer they hooked me up with the dealer of my choice to get the TSB done for the rear spring. The service manager called me and said he had no problem doing the work but that the ride might be more bumpy because of the added leaf spring. He said that they have done it a couple of times and that the customers didn't like how there Taco rode afterwards. Has anybody had this done and what do you think about the ride? Is the upgrade worth it?

 

I just had mine done today and it improved the ride for me. It's stiffer and tighter. I didn't realize just how softly sprung the Tacoma was until I had the TSB done. It also raised the back about 1 inch. I say do it!

 

They do make it a little rougher, rougher like a truck though. if you haul anything get the tsb, sounds like you already had hauling issues. after one week you wont even notice a difference, dont forget to get some billy 5100's for the front to raise your nose. put the billy's on then go to get tsb done and get your alignment done for free

 

They say that to try and discourage people from getting the TSB done. Its a truck. You want it to drive like a truck. the ride improved after getting my TSB done.

 

I have been thinking the same thing, should I explore getting the TSB done. My Tacoma Sport TRD 4x4 rides like a truck in my opinion. The Nissan Titan 4x4 I had before the Tacoma actually had a smoother ride. Considering the few times I will have a heavy load in the truck, is the benefit worth the change in ride quality?

Bet if you took a poll, there'd be very few who regret getting the tsb done on the springs. Best thing I've ever done for my truck. Ride is more solid, NOT rough.

Thread #4,293 about this same thing. General consensus is do it. If the retarded dealer will ever call me back, mine will be done as soon as I can. Yes the back stiffens up a bit more (truck like) but it actually seemed to improve it's cornering a bit less body roll, holds it's load hella better... I didn't see one downside minus the 1.5" tall rear rake.
