I have King 2.5s all around but live in SD (salt belt). I use fluid film on frame, but what do you recommend for the shocks to prevent rust?

I laughed when I read your title. My first thought was: "Those damn lazy shocks."

    Stuff, things, this, an ADS
    Clear coating them would help.

    Dumb question alert...

Is there anything wrong with hitting them with Fluid Film?

I’m honestly asking, I want to upgrade suspension soon and have been wondering how to protect in KY/OH salt heavy zone

I'm in WI which is salt heavy and fluid film worked well. Cleaned off my shocks last weekend and could tell the spots I missed. Just don't spray the rods and seals.
