    I'm changing to their longer antenna, which is overkill, but I want (even) longer range. It's not needed for Jambo.

    Also, in my opinion, barnwell mountain is somewhat forgiving terrain for stock vehicles. HF was rough. All those sharp ledges everywhere. Just my .02

    15 watts with the mag mount is good enough. It's more line-of-site dependent. You're not going to be in 1 valley, and talk to someone in another.

    Nope, don't need to tune it, I used it really well with just the stock antenna talking to @Naveronski at Hot Springs and he was on a handheld.

    But now I have the bigger antenna on the front of the truck...

    But for Jambo, the short one will work just perfectly.

    Which reminds me... I still kinda want to build a base camp radio for Jambo... but do I want to put the effort into it...
