transmission acting wierd?

Is this normal? When I am coasting it feels like the truck is in the wrong gear and using motor compression to slow the truck down....like more than any other vehicle I've ever driven. Seems kinda wierd and more noticeable the faster I go- only when my foot is off the gas and coasting though. There can't be that much drag.

 

It's normal...

Mine does it. Not necessarily all the time but in certain situations you feel it more than others. Haven't figured out how - but I think if you use the brakes, prior to coasting...it does it more often.

 

hm, kinda wierd. my srt magnum did an excellent job with their sensors. it would downshift if you were on the brakes or in a turn it would hold the gear. did awesome on the track.

 

I know just never had a vehicle that slowed down this much without being on the brakes or being driven in a "spirited" manner

 

You don't need to drive the truck in a spirited manner... That's what the Vette is for!! I can sooo relate!

Each manufacturer has different programming for their transmissions and how they'll shift. The tacoma is the first auto I've driven that did it - atleast non of the other autos were as noticable.

 

Mine does this as well. In fact I changed the ATF fluid right after I got it to see if it would make a difference, but it didn't. So I just figured it was normal with this truck
