Having driven the colorado as well, I was not impressed as the newest interation of dieselas it fell flat on it's face going uphill, and just like new tacomas, it was always hunting to find the right gear.

Yep, because it has 2 more gears and a super tall (numerically small) axle ratio. But the SAE standard doesn't care about how the truck "feels". The tow ratings are achieved by hammering the engine at redline while towing the trailer up steep grades.

Me too :). Tesla sedans already have insane amount of torque and they aren't even trying. It'll be interesting to see electric tech enter the truck community...

I drove a Hilux in Costa Rica. Very cool little ride, but nowhere near as cool looking or refined as the Tacoma.

That being said it has a ton of torque and is a great trail vehicle for mud and crossing rivers.

If I was to put a diesel in the Tacoma it would be no less than a 3.0liter

    That being said

I’d rather have the Rivian electric truck
Size of the Tacoma, but insane power and refinement. 400-500 mile range and can tow...wait for it...14,000lbs!!!!

Yeah. 0-60 in 3 seconds too.

Let’s face it, the die-hard gassers and diesel guys will be meeting at the coffee shop on sundays to talk about “the good old days” and the best price for Viagra. They’ll never keep up with these beasts.

It already has better spec’d Offroad capability than a Tacoma (waiting for actual proof)

Couldn’t agree more. I actually have a small bit (ok fairly large bit) of hate for the dumbasses that drive lifted diesels as their daily and brag about getting 20mpgs. Flat out dumbasses that care about nobody or anything, but themselves.

The Rivian stock has 3 feet of water fording capability with no silly snorkel needed lol

Yeah, I love how the limitation on wading depth is when it starts to float. That’s awesome. All this stuff remains to be seen in reality, but it gives you a glimpse of the future.

My prediction is the 3G Tacoma will be the last gas Tacoma generation or Toyota will simply be left behind.

I hope so. Gas is so dinosaur. Electric is quiet, powerful, fast as F and nobody has to worry about MPG chat bs anymore

Observing my co-workers endlessly discuss the batteries, coils, ohmic values, and current draw of their E-cigs/vapes/ aka “douche flutes” has given me a window into the future. MPG threads will be replaced with battery threads, motor lead threads, motor bearing threads, range anxiety threads. The trucks will be better, but the forum might get worse!

Just to prove I’m not making it up, a “sub ohm vaping thread”.

My neighbor smokes a douche flute, has a “bro-lifted” F150...and...he’s a 16yr old boy trapped in a 50 yr old man’s body. So true

Your pic of the guy reminds me of a choo choo train

My only concern with these companies, Tesla, rivian etc. Is that there is a wayyyy smaller service industry available to fix them if/when they break. You'll be looking at a very high bill since it's such a specialty. But then again, same could be said for most of the diesel engines too I suppose...

Perhaps. Sooner or later we as a species need to come to the realization that we have the technology to surpass Petrol

What the shit?!?!? This is AWESOME!!! Thanks for sharing. The future is here. I pray that comes to North America.
Guess that would make me get over missing combustion engine sounds in less time than that goes 0-60

They are just the “1st in” and will sell some vehicles to guys who have so much money they don’t care, like the 1st Teslas. These Rivians are not for us common folk, but they push the boundaries, and heavy hitters like Toyota will come in hard and heavy when they are ready.

Who know.....maybe the next Ridgline will be electric and kick gas Taco ass left and right?

Just needs to be affordable enough to gain it's own momentum. Gas will still be around for a long time. It's used for so much more than car go go juice. Just like crude oil. Which creates plastics which is in pretty much everything...so we'll be using crude for a looooooong time.

Oh god. Please no. Tacoma better beat them out...

Raptor looks better imo. This rivians front end looks like goofy and weird. Definitely recognizable... For it's ugliness. :puke:
