Has anyone found any turbo or supercharger kits for the 2.7L Tacoma? I’ve been looking and can’t find anything for my year.

Because I want more power out do my engine. LCE has a supercharger kit coming out this summer, but I want to do it before then.

Yeah, but what you're going to get is poor reliability, increased fuel consumption, and potential damage. My suggestion would be that you sell it and buy a 6-cyl. You'll save money, and it will be more reliable.

    Nonsense.
He's talking about doing something that has potential negative consequences. If he's not aware of them, do you really think he is in a position to be making the choice? Do you think it is a bad idea to help people think of alternatives that may actually turn out to be better choices? Its his choice to make, but lets just make sure he has considered all of the alternatives.

I bet you're fun at parties and social events :rofl: Relax mother hen, if shits done right no "Potential negative consequences" doll.. Toyota released a FACTORY supercharger kit for the 4.0 and guess who designed it? MAGNUSON which is an AFTERMARKET FORCED INDUCTION COMPANY! omg crazy world! wowzers

OP: Custom Turbo kits are the way to go.. It'll run you around $8k if you pay a decent shop to fab it up with high quality stuff.

Then why are manufactures are moving to forced induction for increased fuel economy?

Do you want to look at the numbers rationally? Or are you just trolling?

    Factory V6 SC: 305 HP.
    NA V6 power: 240 HP.
    Difference: 65 HP or 27%

    2TR HP: 159 HP
Difference to factory NA V6's 240: 81 HP or 51%
Horsepower achievable at factory V6 SC level: 159*1.27=202 HP

    Breakdown:
    1) Boosting it within the parameters of factory SC gets you to 200 HP for $8000 which includes some degree of loss in reliability. Not necessarily do to quality of the aftermarket components, but due to the increased load on the parts, which is undeniable.
    2) Replacing with a V6 gets you AN ADDITIONAL 40 HP for WAY LESS THAN THAT (I recall the purchase price difference being around $500 between 4 and 6 when I bought mine, so shouldn't be any difficulty in doing the trade for a LOT less than $8000), and no loss in reliability.
    3) He can exceed 300 HP with the 6 cyl should he want to go that route later on.

A $500 difference between the 4 and the 6? When was this? New or used?

Ok ok ok. Let’s keep it civil. I’m not sure I’m in a position exactly to trade in the truck atm. Maybe by winter. But if I can get a turbo or super kit for 1-2k that would be cool.

Okay then... Let's be honest most of these threads do not go anywhere, and it is mostly people dreaming about what they could do to their rigs. Give them options, discuss, and move on. Slinging mud won't put anyone into favor. I don't see that anyone here needs a break yet. There's some valid points going in both directions tbh. Let's just keep it civil eh? :canada:

This was new, in 2011, and in Canada, for vehicles that were otherwise identical, so not comparing SR5 vs TRDOR. They'd both be SR5 MT's.
I'm not saying that that's all he would have to pay, just that it would be a lot less than the $8000 that buddy quoted for a turbo.
