If you were looking to buy within the next several months would you buy new? Would you buy new 2019 for cheaper then the 2020’s? Or would you buy a slightly modified (given you can find it for the right $), what would you do?

A few facts to know about me, is i do plan to modifiy it and take it camping and on easy trails, no climbing here.

I will most likely do a light build: King’s, TC UCA, 33’s, SCS Wheels, sliders, SSO hybrid bumper and a few other minor things.. I come from a 5th gen 4Runner that I had to sell in order to purchase a house and I can’t go back due to lost of money.. Sold it for what I bought it for minus ~$10k in mods. Still wish I never had to sell it but the Tacoma looks awesome is the only thing I could think of being close to the 4Runner in capabilities and style!

Anyways, what would YOU do? Just curious as I patiently wait and look for my Tacoma.

    ***UPDATE***
Well I decided to pull the trigger and just purchased a 2020 TRD OR in cement gray with premium off-road package, technology package, led headlights... basically everything but the multi-terrain monitor. I’ve only had it two days but so far, I love it!

    Welcome to TacomaWorld!

Personally I would wait for the 2020 if you have the patience, only for the new features that will be offered. I wouldn't buy someone else's modified truck because you never know the quality of the parts/install, and it's fun to pick your own stuff and build it yourself!

Welcome to TW I would go ahead and buy the 19 if you get the right deal. Looking at the 20 I only see a few modifications, LED lights which you can add now. Power driver seat if your like me I adjust my seat and never change the position. But the choice is yours!

That’s kind of what I was debating/thinking. I would probably do proctor retrofits regardless. And the less ways my seat can go: up, down, back, forward, tilt, lean, rock, hop and skip.. the less mad I’ll get when somebody changes it and I have to find that spot again! Haha, that’s my number one pet peeve along with changing mirrors with that!

However, I’m tempted just because the apple car play. I hated Entune and don’t want to go back, my daily has apple car play and it’s so seamless! Will there be an update for 2019’s or can I go aftermarket?

Why don't you just buy another 4runner?

I feel that with an update or two Toyota will offer the software updates on the 19's. But again you never know I love XM radio so don't really care about apple car or android auto.

I haven’t read into the whole Tacoma vs 4Runner debate, assuming that that is an everyday topic, but just want to change it up.

It will be very nice to have a bed now that I have a house. I’ve been borrowing my dads spare 2007 Tacoma and use the bed almost daily. Redoing lots of stuff around the house it’s nice to load the bed full of stuff I wouldn’t necessarily want on the inside.

I also like the increased towing capacity. I believe another 2000lbs. Which will come in handy as we are looking at travel trailers as well. It will be a small lightweight trailer that does maybe two, three weeks at a time, trips with my parents and uncle/aunt/cousins. No need to tell me to get full size truck or it’s not good at towing or whatever.

Plus, I really love how they look and upgradeability is endless. A little cheaper then the 4Runners. Lastly, it’s just my dogs and wife and I with no plans for children. So plenty of space.

You can't go wrong with either, really. Just depends on your needs. Tacomas are great little pickups. Enjoy whatever you choose!

Woohoo!! I updated the first post, but decided on a 2020 after a little over seven months of looking and debating. I couldn't be happier!:thumbsup:
