Sympathy for you. I lost 2.5 days this week owing to a cold brought on by allergies. The tree-jizz can screw right the hell off!

yeah I really need to get an allergy test. But my last visit the doc says the inside cat is part of the problem. Good news is the step-daughter is moving out and taking her cat with her! I still need an allergy test though

My son had one last year. Poor kid has had excema issues for years, and it's recently gotten worse. Turns out he's pretty much allergic to everything but food. Dogs, cats, pollen, etc... and we live in SC, the Pollen Capital of the US.

They wanted to put him on Dupixent (sp?), but that crap was OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive- $2500/shot- and they start off with 2 shots, then another one every 2 weeks. Yeah, Doc, sorry- you're not going to get your kickback on this one. I have no interest in taking on a second career to pay for 28 shots every year. We're doing the drops instead, and so far it appears to be helping.

EDIT: here's a link to the drug, explaining the cost https://clearhealthcosts.com/blog/2018/01/much-dupixent-cost-information-helps-people-appeal-denial/ . No wonder we see this crap all over the television, and it's prescribed at the drop of a hat (the doc literally walked in without having ever seen my son before, and said we'll put him on this stuff... then we came back the following month, my son's skin had improved. "Hey, The Dupixent is working!" he said. I couldn't take it- I said "No asshole, you aren't getting a kickback on this case, we are using drops, not your favorite pet product. Try reading his chart!" Just galling that a "health care professional" can't take 30 seconds to review a case. I wanted to punch that asshole in the throat. Think he caught on, too. My wife wasn't happy with me, but she's very reserved (Midwesterner, of Slavic descent) and quite the opposite of me (Southerner, never met a stranger, of Irish and Cherokee descent- but DO NOT piss me off).

Once when I was pretty sick I went to the Dr and after him taking an hour past my appointment time he decided to grace me with his presence. Some of the first words out his mouth were. What do you think is wrong. I looked at him and blew up. I told him shitty ass doctors who have no clue what their doing are part of the problem and if I knew what the f was wrong with me I wouldn’t be there wasting my time. I let him know I expected him to do HIS job and figure it out not ask me.

Needless to say I didn’t go back there ever again.

If there was another option for this specialty in our area, I'd have done the same. Luckily his staff is amazing- they took the ball and ran with it. They got us in touch with the Patient Assistance Program and dispensary (which we didn't even know about). That would have saved us a lot of money for 6 months, but there is just not enough info out there yet on this medicine. It's apparently a "biologic", meaning it's " a product that is produced from living organisms or contain components of living organisms. Biologics include recombinant proteins, tissues, genes, allergens, cells, blood components, blood, and vaccines. Biologics are used to treat numerous disease and conditions, for example: Anemia." Also, they don't know what happens when you stop taking it. Yeah, no. I am not interested in making my kid a guinea pig.

But remember, it's the "affordable care act", ya'll. ;)

My premiums have quadrupled, and I'm getting nowhere near the service I used to.

No doubt man, you don't play with the unknown especially with the little ones. I would rather hurt than see my child hurt.

No doubt man, my wife went to the dr not long ago all in a panic. The doctor brought up some sort of heart beat issues. Wanted to do all these tests. I looked at her and said AH he must want to buy a new car or summer home. So she went in for the two tests to start and found absolutely nothing (as expected from her previous checkups with her old doctor who was also a heart specialist). After I told her about the house thing I said if you had a heart issue do you not think the guy who was one of the top specialists in the state we used to live in (he also would see patients for other things if they had a connection, my sister worked for him) would have found something out in the 5 years you went to him.

She calmed down some but she has anxiety so was still nervous until the results came back. I personally wanted to go find this guy and whoop him for causing her more anxiety.

I can relate. When my wife was in labor with my son, I was in another room putting scrubs on. Kept hearing her scream (room was two doors down) as they repeatedly tried to do the spinal block on her. I finally had enough, leaned half-naked out of the room and yelled (in the middle of a busy hospital, mind) that if she screamed one more time I was going to rip the arm of the sorry SOB off that caused it. They got another person in there and all went well after.

I was VERY apologetic afterwards... and the wife still cringes when I mention this. She is quite reserved, I say what's on my mind, often in a blunt way.

Yes, it was an ass thing to do, and I probably could have been charged and taken to jail. Didn't care, someone was causing my woman pain and it brought out the Neanderthal.

Nothing wrong with that. I always tell people you wanna see just how big an asshole I can be then screw with my wife or kid. Once that happens though just remember there is nowhere you can run and hide that I won't find you. My gramp's used to tell me boy no matter what you are in life always be the best you ca be. So I've made it my life's mission to be the best asshole I can be. :)

Busted out the unicorn rub tonight. Even my wife commented about how good it was. I bet this stuff will sell like hotcakes once it becomes available.

I almost forgot to take a pic! Pork loins from the local butcher.
