    Hello Everyone,

The plan for this thread moving forward is to have a monthly run the first Saturday of each month. We are keeping it as simple as possible. We pick a place and time and go from there. If you can make it cool and if not no worries. Everyone is welcome and free to make suggestions or plan runs on their own.

Big Bear, Cleghorn, Pilot Rock/2N17X, Oriflamme Canyon are some of the trails we are going to hit. Just to name a few. Obviously suggestions are welcome. Once a location and time have been agreed on I will post it here.

Lets make this as fun as possible!

Create a free account, and search for the area (in this case Big Bear). I still haven't taken mine up there, but want to in the near future. Good luck, and take pics!!

Just stick to 3N16 Holcomb Valley/Crab Flats Rd. and you'll be fine. It runs from the Big Bear dump road on the east to Crab Flats/Green Valley Lake on the west end.

Coxey Road (3N14) is simple and takes you from Hesperia (high desert) up into Fawnskin by Big Bear Lake. About 18 miles of easy 4x4 trail, usually it's 2wd friendly but there's still quite a bit of snow up in some spots (at least there was last weekend) but with 4x4 you'll be fine.

Coxey Rd/3N14 crosses Holcomb Valley 3N16 at Big Pine Flats, about 7 miles outside of Fawnskin, so it's pretty easy to do both if you wanted to.

    You're quite welcome!
I've taken 3N14 from BPF but only to reach White Mtn. Never taken it all the way down. Would like to come up that way from hesperia one if these days just so I'd know an alternate route.

It's my preferred way to get up into Big Bear, since the highways are usually a nightmare on weekends. Either that or taking Green Valley Road up to Holcomb Valley through Big Pine Flats

Another good one is Radford Camp Road. Beautiful view may be a little tight in some spots but never came across anything that required armor.

huh, I hadn't heard of that one before. Looks like it's on the other side of the mountain, I'll have to look into that next time since getting to Coxey Road in Hesperia from Los Angeles takes a solid 2 hours.

Another one I just thought of is the Heartbreak Ridge trail, I wouldn't call it "easy" but it isn't hard. If you've ever done White Mountain it's about equivalent to that, definitely a lot harder when there's snow on the ground. But that one starts way out near Yuma in the desert and ends up on the south/east side of Big Bear mountain.

I took it last time I had a trip up there with my old man. Starts in Seven Oaks and spits you out right at Bear Mountain. Goes along the face of the mountain looking into the valley the whole way. 20180604_104158.jpg

Another easy route between Big Bear and Green Valley is 2N13 Snow Slide Rd.

Where do these start at? at the bottom of the mountain and go up or are they by the lake?

Clark's Grade 1N54(may be closed due to snow)starts out at the base of the mountain and takes you up into Big Bear. 2N13 connects with 3N14 just outside of Fawnskin.

Bottom up, or top to bottom depending on where you want to start from. The Green Valley Rd trail starts about halfway up the mountain if you're taking the 330, just exit Green Valley Rd and follow until it the dirt trail starts off to the left (if you keep going you'll eventually hit Green Valley Lake). That trail will take you to Holcomb Valley eventually.

Coxey Rd starts way out in the high desert and takes you to Big Bear Lake, looks like a few others mentioned here take you from the very bottom to the top as well.

yeah that's where we started when we did Heartbreak Ridge, but there's a lot of fire roads out there too that will take you up without having to do Heartbreak

If you don't want to drive North around Big Bear just to get to roads heading South into Big Bear, try looking at Wildhorse Meadow Rd ( 2N93 ) and Sand Canyon Rd ( 2N27 ) that head North and then N/West into Big Bear.
