I have a feeling that your budget rules out forced induction. You may be able to switch to V6 for that, but as with anything, if you buy and you can't sell for high enough, or you sell first and realize that you can't buy for within your budget... then that could be a problem.

One option you may have, is if you can find a private seller who is willing to write up a conditional sale of his V6... we do this in real estate all the time, and there is no reason it can't apply to cars. Basically the contract will be written condition on the seller (you) finding a buyer for your truck willing to pay no less than a couple of grand less than he's agreed to sell his to you for.

Okay. So if I don’t turbo or supercharger my truck, and I’d i don’t trade it on for a 6cyl, what other options do I have? I’d like to at least break 200 hp. What can I do for my truck other than an exhaust system to add power?

Which is illegal and I’d have to refill the tanks.

    Weight reduction.
Also look at how much your wheels and tires weigh, rotational mass definitely makes a big difference.
I hear a tacomaworld sticker is good for 5hp.

What about a tune? Different headers and modified intake along with a tune might push me up a few right?

I have the 3RZ-FE 2.7l, but Alpine made the TRD Supercharger for it.

If your budget is 1 to 2 k you could definitely get lower gears in that price range that'll help with acceleration.

I know that's not a supercharger please dont crucify me for it

Hey, OP. I intend to apply forced induction to my 2.7l, too. Until the end of last year, I had intended to go the URD route, and supercharge. But then I heard that LCE was developing their own Turbo kit for the 2tr-fe, so I’m waiting on that.

In the meantime, consider LCE’s header for your truck. I bought one, and while it doesn’t set the world on fire performance wise, it’s a worthy investment in our trucks, and an investment that perhaps only is fellow 2.7l owners can fully appreciate.

Ps: I say that LCE is developing a turbo kit, and not a supercharger kit, because that’s the info I got last I checked. I could have heard wrong. However, between the two, I’d prefer a turbo kit, fwiw.

Just curious to those who are waiting for the LCE kit. Why? URD has their kit ready to go. Is there something that I am missing here?

I talked with someone at LCE yesterday and both a turbo and supercharger kit are set to come out this summer. But the super kit will likely come out first they said.

About the headers, does it affect the sound any, in a negative way? Also do you notice any gains from it?
