Is it possible to put the TRD head unit in a 2018 SR5?

    Too much.
That's a good question. I think there are a few on here that have done it too.

Yes but if I remember correctly you need a new bezel to go around it.

Yes you can but like pine state said you will need to also replace the bezel and that’s tough to find. They are $225.00 from Toyota. I’m considering doing it also

I put the premium radio in my SR.. if you want xm, youll have to get the tuner. Im not sure if the SR5 is wired differently than mine but I needed a nav antenna. Thankfully the guy I bought the radio from threw one in with the deal. Other than that its all plug and play. The bezel is a Toyota only part so unless you can find somebody selling one from a swap they did, or a wreck. You will pay dearly for it.. between the bezel and radio, I have less than 500 in the swap and to me, hands down the best "upgrade" Ive done. Changes the look of the inside so much.

How did you meet the guy? Or was it luck when you were looking online like ebay or something

Yah I been keeping my eyes open for one myself.
Also if you already have XM IN YOUR SR5 and you you find a radio you can unbolt the XM unit from your radio and bolt it to the new radio

Yes. It will bolt up to the new unit and plug in. It's all pretty much plug and play..

When you swapped it for your SR what all did you need? Radio, Nav antenna (is that literally an external antenna? I know odd question)...trying to get it all straight in my head for next time I am in salvage yard.

Just out of curiosity what’s so “premium” about the off road head unit. I hated that head unit it has virtually zero features.

All I was trying to say is if you have XM now then you don’t need the antenna because it’s there already. You just need the radio and bezel

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
It is a easy swap to any SR5 -- I am not sure about the SR's. I have done it and the system sounds way better. Like others already said you will need the other size (larger) bezel. Or, maybe if you are really good with cutting plastic you could try your skills. If you have to order one be careful as there are 3 different colors to pick from, plus you must get the 2 new air handlers with the "assembly" as well, that's the only way Toyota sells them. Maybe a wrecked truck in a salvage yard?

What I understand is missing on the SR's is the antenna for the XM (maybe the NAV as well??)

Be careful if you come across the Toyota highest level head unit for sale (JBL) --that one IS NOT a simple plug and play, as it has a preamp (I think?) and different speakers that are non compatible (without other mods)
