New truck with sub 2k miles. Whenever I go over bumps I hear a distinct rattle underneath the passenger seat. It sounds like it is outside the cabin under the truck and something is loose and slap-rattling the underside of the truck when a bump dislodges it. I checked in the cabin under the seat and don't see anything loose. I got under the truck as well and can't find anything obvious.

Is it the cab mount that i've read some people have? I wasn't planning to take the truck in until the 5k service but the rattle is annoying.

***edit to add it sounds like a solid object vibrating against the underside of the truck. ***

Check shoulder belt, banging B-Pillar. I would doubt it's cab mount at sub 2k.

You might want to get it checked out. I've only had rattles; one from the passenger side which turned out to be the seat belt buckle banging against the door pillar. The other one was from the rear passenger side which I thought was the door. Turned out to be the backseat headrests which I removed and stored behind the seat. They sit in there kinda loose and that was causing the rattle. A piece of foam solved that problem.

Rattles can be difficult to track down sometimes. It's like searching for that one fire/smoke detector which keeps beeping after changing the batteries in all the others. Always seems to be the last one you check.

Suggestion, ride in the passenger seat while someone else drives to see if you can pinpoint further.

Take the passenger seatbelt/shoulder belt, and attach it like someone is sitting there. So it's not banging B-pillar. Take it for a ride, to see if it is indeed that. Belt buckle rattles between seat and B-pillar.

I'll have a look but i don't think the noise is coming from inside the cabin. I think something on the underside of the truck is loose and going over a bump slingshots it into the cabin.

Try moving the passenger seat into a different position along its rail and see if that helps.

You sure it's not the passenger side A pillar plastic?

When you raise the rear seat cushions to access under seat storage the belt buckles can drop down to the floor where they can rattle against the floor.

There are small pockets in the seat back near the bottom of the seat back cushion to store these buckles in to keep them from in place when not being used by passengers.

Rattles are always hard to find.

I just rocked the passenger seat back and forth and it's loose compared to the driver's seat. I then slid it forward and back a bit and was able to get it to lock in more solidly. I think this might be issue, as the rattle has come and gone and i suspect it's due to seat positioning. I will test it out when i leave work in a couple hours.

My passenger side sway bar was loose from the factory and caused a rattle another common source of rattle is the exhaust heat shield if it’s been bent slightly. Take a look and just bend it back.

Just got back from the long weekend. The issue is the passenger seat and track system. With the seat all the way back it doesnt sit sturdy on the track and wobbles/rattles. Moving the seat forward solves the issue. I'll have the deal take a look at my first service.
