Not sure if you folks knew that we've been working with the TSS issue since it was released late 2017. The key to this sensor is to have a free line of sight with no obstructions. Theres more to this sensor, angle, position, etc. Trust me, It took us 6 grilles before we got it right without the dash lighting up like a Christmas Tree. Bondy's Toyota in Alabama were truly a huge help working with us with their computers making this work properly. Even the thickness of the Lexan protecting the sensor is a key element.

What type of grille is that? Looks good, can you provide us with a full picture of the grille?

I got a kick out of the guy that said he’s had more TRD Pro grille orders cancelled than a Trump non-disclosure agreement - back a few dozen pages ago.

I just bought a 2016-2017 TRD Pro grille today from a dealer. One hour later I got an email from a dealer in the states that my 2018-2019 grille has shipped. As of April 1st, I’ll have two grills.

I’ve posted the “70” on Craigslist for $500 (CDN) which is $20 more than I paid for it but it helps recover the gas I burnt going to pick it up. Not to mention the nasty stone chip I got on the highway that wrecked the windshield on my way home. The truck is only a week and a half old and it’s like a stone magnet.

Anyhoo, if you want the whole grille (I won’t part it out), and you’re in the BC lower mainland or Northern Washington (I’m five minutes from the border at Sumas, WA). It’s all yours. I won’t mail it, it’s just too expensive and the risk of fraud too great.

I won’t disclose where I got either grille because I want to protect cooperating dealers and don’t want to ruin the chances for guys and girls looking for these grilles. If you really want an “80” grille, keep searching, follow the advice on these threads and you’ll be successful.

I searched every free moment online for an “80” grille for two weeks and probably had fifteen orders cancelled by dealers before finding one that worked. Good luck.

Yea first clue was you need to provide a 2018 TRD pro vin number. That’s the only way to get a OEM one.

Will doing this to my 2019 TRD Off-road void the lease?

I guess this is why you have to get a TRD Pro vin number to get a OEM grill

Same here. Having the error on constantly got on my nerves so i swapped the old one back in. Funny enough, later in the day i found out there's a recall for tss.

I made sure I got an OEM Pro grille and garnish for my OFF/ROAD 2018 and I had it installed by a Toyota Dealership here So. Calif and it works just fine. This was about a year ago.

I dont see why the sensor shouldnt work if the proper OEM garnish is used with an after market PRO grille. Unless your sensor was part of the recall. I made sure the sensor worked properly by having it installed by the dealership near me. I negociated the price of installation.

So what exactly does this mean for people with aftermarket Pro grills?

I just installed a factory Pro Grill w/ garnish today. No issues with TSS yet, only drove 30 miles or so.

Thanks for the info on this post, I referenced it before I did the install.

If the TSS is so sensitive what happens when you carry a heavy load in the bed or have phat people riding in the truck. Give the TSS a few weeks/miles it will re-calibrate and you will be fine.
