I gave up on it. Went to the WiFi mirror box. Mine was just grainy and wasn't please with the FoV. It needed a wider angle.

I've ordered this, I'm waiting for it from California. It only took a few days to go from Hong Kong to California.

I do not think you can hook up a third camera. If someone knows the answer that would be great. I'd like to keep the factory backup camera, use a forward facing camera, and add a backup camera for a trailer. From my uneducated read of the manual for the module it seems to indicate you keep the factory rear camera as it is, it does not seem to indicate you can then use it if you have the factory camera to hook up a third camera...

Is that over the Toyota emblem? How is your camera mounted?

I got my RFCC TTG2 installed. I put the cam on the center bolt under the bumper. The view is really good. There's only one problem. The video is reversed. Damn! I thought I had it correct before I installed it. Oh well. I had dressed the wiring up with sticky backs and encased the connections at the camera with heat shrink and rtv. Now I've gotta go back in and swap the video around. I think, while I'm in there, I'm gonna enable the guidelines. It's just a matter of disconnecting one of the wires and reconnecting the other wire.

Edit: I went back in and reversed the video and enabled the guide lines. I also made a cheat sheet for the guideline distances. Yours might not be the same as mine though. For those on the fence about installing a front camera on you 3rd Gen Tacoma, it's a no brainer. Do it. I really like how the front camera comes on automatically when I'm going slow in drive. I don't quite have it figured out yet but I really like the feature. I want to test the front camera out in different places. I'm not sure I want to leave it under the bumper. I like the idea of it being in the grill if it turns out to be a good view.

How did you mount it? Did you screw it in? I want mine to be removable if possible, so no epoxy or glue.

    Screwed it in.

I dont have it hooked up, so maybe the view sucks....I wanted to use the nikita cam but could not really get it to work with this grill and could care less about buying a pro grill. I like the size of the openings in this grill for towing.

    here are the pics:

Yeah, I'd be interested in the view as well. If it's a good view, that'd be great since it'd be easier to work on being there as opposed to under the bumper.

Got this installed a few days ago and got to play with it for a while.

Such an easy mod! It was a little bit of a pain trying to get the head unit back in with all the extra cables and box.

I have some questions if you don't mind....

When I go from R to D, the front camera just shows for 1-2 seconds, not the 30 as advertised. Do you know how to change it to 30? Also, how do you change between Controller Automatic Mode and Controller Mixed Mode?? The instructions just talk about the modes on the Car Solutions kit, but not how to switch.

If you used Hoangde’s HAI kit I’m pretty sure you could add a third camera with the add on cable option. I have my front and rear cameras set up and also have an empty AV connection.

Here is the link to his stuff

I agree on the difficulty getting the head unit stuffed back in. I plan to go back in and rearrange the wiring soon.

Long press either Seek + or Seek -, depending doing on which one is selected, and you'll hear a beep. It's now locked in. You can still switch between the 2 cameras and they'll stay displayed until you short press the Mode button. Maybe not the answer you are looking for though.

My problem is, when the front camera comes on after I shift to drive, it turns off at or maybe even before I get to 5 mph. It'd be nice if that were settable or just lasted until I hit 10 mph.

I thought it was supposed to automatically come on when I slowed to pull into a parking space but I've not seen it do that. I have to select it.

    Still learning.

I'll try the long press next drive, thanks for that tip.

Yes, the 5mph is annoying; however, I am loving this mod.

The front camera coming on automatically while driving slow is on the Beat Sonic kit. I chose the Car Solution kit since I don't have a spare slot for an additional switch.
