I don't know pilot rock, but yes it is quite chundery. Short travel fullys and hardtails would be a challenge on ot.

Bikes are like dogs, all dogs are good boys, all bikes are good bikes. Grats on the new bike! I'll admit I've always wanted a cruiser in the quiver.

Sorry, no pictures, but I loaded my racing trike into the truck, and took it over to West Orange and South Lake trails. Man, that dull orange trike sure looks sharp sitting in a dull blue truck. So happy I got the long bed - it would never fit in the shorty.

Finally got a shot of my babies together. Maybe I should have waited for the OD 2020 pro to come out...

Good eye! They are Hope Tech 3 E4. I love them. Adjustable reach and bite point. Objectively not the strongest available, but don't need that. Honestly nothing beats the feel of Hope brakes. Plus they are about the best looking brakes out there. A bit spendy but I had some extra cash and bought what I wanted.

Nice! I am planning on upgrading my Guide brakes after this season. Coming from XT I hate them. Was looking at hope and TRP

Haven't ridden TRP but if they're good enough for Gwin they're good enough for the rest of us peasants.

Edit: haven't ridden XTs either but was seriously considering them. I've heard they're very light-switchy as in all on or all off, but Hopes are the exact opposite. Tons of modulation.

Ah man so I learned to MTB on XTs and youre right they are very on or off, I got used to that and now I have guides which are a ton of modulation. I have to death grip to get them to lock, which with XTs it was super easy haha. Maybe I wont like the hopes after all, or should just learn to use modulating brakes hahaha

    Hey sweet setup!

I have almost the exact same thing going, (Double cab, manual, with that tailgatepad )

I am looking at tonneau covers for my rig and I have a couple questions.

    1. Does that Bronson fit in the bed with the cover folded as pictured?

    2. What tonneau cover is that? backflip?

    3. Will the cover latch and lock with the tailgate cover installed?

I put Zee brakes on my fat bike to help tame the massive amount of rolling weight. They do pretty well, but when they bite down in a panic, it's like crashing into a brick wall. You gon stop no matter what.

Formula R1 on my bikepacking rig, but will most likely swap those out for a hybrid like the TRP at a later date. Magura on my XC SS and it will probably get the Formulas as I really like their bite/modulation better than the Magura.

These definitely don't require death grips to stop. I can 1-finger it all day whether at a local trail or the bike park.

    1. Technically yes but the back tire will contact the tonneau before it sits properly in the rack. I used to run this exactly the same with my 07 Silverado w/ 5' 8" (6"?) Bed and Bakflip and it was perfect. This, not so much.

    2. OEM that comes w/ premium package. Looks pretty easy to remove and install so I may just do that when I ride.

    3. Yes, but kind of moot because of #1. The Bakflip w/ raceface pad on my Chevy also closed and locked.

I have TRP Slate T4 brakes and really like them, tons of modulation, Shimano Saint/Zee pads Shimano mineral oil and bleed procedure and got them for I think $79 per side new in retail package with bleed kit, oil, olives etc. Probably not best enduro or dh brake, but excellent trail and average rider brake. They don't seem to like real winter though as I experienced some issues with pistons not retracting fully. This is -10C (14F) and lower weather. Got mechanical TRP Spykes for that time of year now. Had XT M780s before and they were way more grabby, too much for my taste. I had a Stumpjumper rental with base Guides for a day last summer and they felt considerably weaker.

Thanks for mentioning that TRP uses mineral oil. I run Shimano and have appreciated various SRAM/Avid peaked in other peoples’ bikes but just can’t deal with DOT brake fluid. It’s messy enough on motors and cars; if I had to bleed DOT fluid regularly I’d go crazy. I know Magura and Tektro also use mineral oil. Good to have options.

God, I’ve been through goddam almost all brakes now. Of the modern variety, XT, xtr, Magura, guide, code, saint, Hope t3e4, and now Hayes dominion.
Dot vs mineral: as well know, mineral is easy to work with, dot is just plain ol’ better. I don’t care either way.
I currently run Codes on the trail bike (Devinci Marshall), Hopes on the all mountain (Devinci Troy), Saints on the dh bike (Giant glory XO), and Dominions on the enduro (Devinci Spartan 29).
The dominions were the latest brakes I tried, and I would run those on all my bikes if I could. Best brakes I’ve ever tried, bar none, on all fronts. Power, modulation, consistency, ease of use, adjustment, installation. They leave nothing to be desired. Honestly, they are simply the best in all aspects of anything I’ve ever tried.
