^^^This is really interesting. As I mentioned earlier, my wife's 2006 1GR-FE with 4 owners, questionable earlier service history and 185k miles feels much livelier compared with our new-to-us, babied, one owner, low mileage 2014 DCLB. After going through the new truck (all fluids, filters, plugs, cleaned MAF, etc etc), I have no reason to believe there's anything ominous to worry about so I pondered whether Toyota changed to softer mapping when adding the SAI for emissions purposes. Good (???) to hear I can rule that out.

Nice! I'd done that several years ago, but it wasn't nearly as purdy as that. I ran it for quite awhile trying to see if it ran cooler IAT numbers, but it wasn't significant, a couple degrees when running down the road over stock. Then I ran some 1/4 mile numbers with it against my G-tech and it didn't show any improvement over stock. So I sold it, got my money back, went back to stock and eventually went with a URD intake.

They don't really do anything on our trucks except lighten your wallet.

I've kept your previous comments on the 2006 feeling a bit more lively in mind, and I'm really itching to get my hands on a 2005/6 truck to pull the calibration off of. If you're interested, maybe I loan you my MPVI2 to read the truck.

Thanks for the offer! Happy to do that anytime (although I'm close to pulling the trigger on an MPVI2 anyway)

I think it might have been one of your earlier posts that gave me the idea! I did see it here somewhere on the board so I'd wager it was yourself. :)

I went into it not expecting much, and you could say I wasn't disappointed :) It gives the truck a little extra at speed that the totally stock intake didn't have, but I'd say it's just like all the others as far as performance goes. The look is clean and it keeps the intake at 3.5" rather than necking down to ~2..2.5" like the stock tube. I'm pretty certain I'm going to push the N/A boundary to see what I can get out the 1GR now that a viable tuning option exists to see where we can go.

I actually acquired a spare airbox, and hacked it up, removing the resonance chamber and secondary air filter too.

I noticed the same thing with my 2009 tacoma vs when I bought my 2014. The throttle response is for sure a lot more delayed/sluggish it seems.

I really want to see the old trucks calibration now. This is interesting. I've created a spreadsheet to compare and help visualize the throttle/pedal relationship (2015 stock throttle vs. aggressive mapping). Here's a screenshot of that utility.

    Blue: Pedal Position
    Red: Stock Throttle Output
    Green: Optimized (aggressive) Throttle Output

Is the green Optimized over your initial experiment?

Yes. Initially I admittedly went a little too aggressive and it was a bit of a pain to drive in town. I'd feel pretty comfortable giving someone that throttle mapping (chart above this post, not the one posted here) as an "aggressive" mapping. I intend to tame it down a little bit more for those who might use 4Lo and need a bit more forgiving throttle for control at lower pedal input. Originally, what I tested (see below) was more closely related to 1:1 from about 15% pedal and up. Again, much to aggressive considering where the pedal is during normal driving.

I can certainly understand that concern.

Back in the mid 2000's when we were pioneering E85 use on the EVO's we had members of the forum then collect samples from all of the available pumps and we actually tested the ethanol content. I don't recall the specifics but I want to say we didn't find any that were significantly lower than 80%. That was a long time ago though..

@TRON there is a possibility that the capability could exist in the future!
If we get enough interest they will give more support. It would be awesome they were able to add a table for eca then possibly we use one from a Tundra or something.
We dont know yet if that is possible but it may come around in time.

Guys, knock it off! (Just kidding). This is great! Currently poor...

Once I have funds, this is the next mod. I'd like to see a few dyno pulls on an NA for HP gains. SAI delete is worth it alone.

I have plans to do N/A pulls with the stock manifolds on (stock & tuned) and to come shortly with URD headers.
