I'm thinking about trading in my 2016 SR on a 2019 SR , I can take my steps, grill guard, and tunnel cover. I have this damage , 38000 miles the trade would be for $7000. any thoughts

I personally would wait for the 2020 model. But that’s just me

It's your money but I wouldn't...same truck essentially so I'd be paying 7k to get a different color...nagh, not me....but good luck in your decision.

If you dont have any issue with the truck, I would say not really worth it. 7k can get you some good stuff on your current taco.

No way. For 7K you can put on a fox suspension, larger/better tires, rims, pro skid plate, led fogs, upgrade cluster, leather wheel, flares, head unit / speakers/ sub, and have a truck way better that a 19 SR or even a sport and have beer money left over.

It’s obvious the OP is not looking to trick out his SR. Probably not solid advice and completely off topic.

Op, wait till the 2020s come out and then nab the 2019 SR you want for a better deal. Most of the new “upgrades” of the 2020 won’t come on an SR trim anyways.

    Totally solid imo.
What upgrades on a 2020 are so great? Snorkel ?
So what does he want to do, get the same truck with TSS ? I would rather have a 3 year old better by far one for less than 7k added.

Get a leftover 19 when the 20's come out. Even on an SR there is a price break.

He mentioned trading in for the exact same trim. You suggested he waste 7k on aftermarket parts.
Yes he wants the same truck, it’s in the first post.

    Waste ? LOL.
Aftermarket pro skid, aftermarket trd rims, aftermarket ko2's or Nitros ? Far from it. Aftermarket fogs are better than oem and a lot of other stuff. FOX suspension. Do you have that on your Off Road ? How is that JBL ?
Way better than a sport all day any day and OR's minus crawl etc which most don't use anyway.
I've seen modded SR's that are way better than any sport put out and some OR's.
Its not a waste its called upgrading what some do after they buy their truck 1st day, swap it out.
I've seen audio setups in SR's that blow away JBL.
    Get with the program.
You wasted money on Toyota doing it for you.
Do you know what a sport is compared to an SR ?
Toyota adds stuff you could do for better and cheaper and puts a sticker on the back that says SPORT, or OR for, yup 10K +.
And you could go pro for the Pro shift knob and sticker. Snorkel included too.

Maybe you didn't comprehend what I posted. It would be a waste of money for the OP who obviously isn't looking to spend 7k on upgrades. I never said the parts are a waste of money.

I don't understand. He's spending 7K anyway. So why not put that into stuff that is far better than what he would be driving off the lot with new again ? That SR suspension sucks.
By the time the dealer adds tax, title, dealer prep etc etc etc it will be more like 8K.

So why in the hell are they buying a Tacoma truck ?
    Are you actually serious ?
To buy the lowest model they can get ? Do they go in there saying I want the lowest quality stuff/downgrades, or this is what I have to spend and what I'm stuck with ?

Because he doesn’t want that s**t and he would get a color other than black, plus a reset on the warranty. As others have mentioned, I would wait for the 2020 and then grab a better deal on the 2019.

    1. Your truck is damaged
    2. $7000 for two years of depreciation is not bad, Regardless if a truck is paid iff or not, There IS a monthly cost to own in depreciation, Even when paid off it's depreciating, Plus you get to save decent money transferring your accessories.

IT's your money. If you are not going to do a major off road build get the 19 when the 2020s are out.

Buy the 19. It's not a bad deal. Go For it
