I’ve just purchased a 2019 double cab 4x4 and am wondering if the extra 3k they want for 7yr-120k warranty is worth it? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

    CANCEL IT...

You have three years and 36K miles and another 60/60 powertrain.
Look for discounted Genuine Toyota care Service Contracts sold online.
Buy it near the end of the 3/36k IF you still think you will need it.

Note: I ALWAYS buy the contract from F&I just to keep him from upselling anything else.
I then CANCEL it 2 months in for a full refund.

The standard powertrain is 5 year /60k miles so it's really an extra 2 year /60k warranty.

Not worth it for what you'll have to jump through at the dealer if you ever need work.

    That means no.

People get offers for 1200-1800 for the same warranty. You have until your base warranty is up to extend it, but for 99% of people its not worth it.

    Means "no"
You can get it cheaper and you can also buy it at anytime before the factory warranty is over.

I’m at 80k and had zero issues. Do your maintenance and you’ll be fine. Something catastrophic would need to happen to add up to $3k or more.

You can get it for much cheaper. Some will say it’s a waste of money but it does offer peace of mind especially with some of the issues that the newer vehicles have had. Get them down to half that and it’s probably worth it

This topic has been BTF on this board.

You should be able to find a Toyota factory warrany under $1K easily.

I paid something like $1400 for 6 year, and I've seen folks on here get better than that, so that price seems nuts.

Sure their worth it if a major repair is needed, but extended warranties are profitable for the manufacturer thats why they offer it. Meaning most wont need or use it and its a waist of money....in most cases not all.

Id only consider a extended warranty in a America or German vehicle I knew i was going to keep for a long time. Their is a reason people buy Japanese vehicles and nothing else.

Not for $3k. I got mine for about $1,500, so one decent repair will pay it off.
Also one thing to consider is mods. I plan to stay mostly stock for years, until I pay my truck way down/off. If I was going to do a lot of major mods, and didn't have an already established relationship with a known mod friendly dealer, there's no way I'd pay extra for any kind of warranty, that'll always be disputed.

Matick Toyota in Macomb, MI. I made the purchase while I was there last year doing some work with General Motors Propulsion Systems. Due to the harsh competition in the area from the the big three being headquartered close by, I scored a great deal.

    I paid $1250 for 10yr/100mile platinum

Hindsight it was probably not needed.

The only high price item I needed under warranty was the $1300 hp fuel pump

I’m on the east coast of Canada and the dealer is “including” almost a $1000 of regular maintenance like oil changes and things like checking the wiper blades. Lol.
