    Just bought my 2019 tacoma manual ,and purchased the OV tune not shipped yet.From what I’m reading here the rev hang makes the drivability not so fun.Im sure it’s highly technical to get cleared up but hoping this gets solved by OV and of course want smooth power and torque and a bit more HP.Does the OV tune as it is right now make any of the rev hang better or it’s the same as stock form?And is everyone enjoying the OV tune on a manual or it’s not dialed in enough yet?

    It’s 1000% worth it right now and continually getting better as mat gets deeper into Toyota’s “logic”.

    We still have our gripes but its stuff that’s a problem with the stock tune. Mat is trying to fix for us and is here a lot looking for feedback and ways to improve.

    I dont think there’s a manual guy here who would say its not worth it. The changes in the power band alone are huge.

    Simple request from me,predictable throttle tip in as close to a cable feel as possible,max low end torque and max top end Hp. Having separate tunes tables for 2hi/4hi and 4lo would be a big bonus. 4 low needs to retain all the torque possible for those low rpm maneuvers in difficult terrain. 4 high with more horsepower for powering through deep mud/snow and running the dunes. I know I will catch hell for this but I would like 2 hi to be an all out performance tune to chase down raptors:burnrubber: gas mileage be damned.rpyqxrxKyMXHnavCpZzV.gif

    Couldn't you put the "performance button" on the Auto LSD? I know the User Manuals says you should only be using the Auto LSD at lower speed, but wouldn't it actually help when cornering at high speed?

    I remember when I was shopping around for an Audi S4 (glad I mever pulled the trigger lol), the higher end models had a real mechanical LSD in the rear, but most of them had one just like ours which applies brake only, but that might be the only ressemblance afaik

    44k miles on the stock tune, since OVT is asking what we want. It'd be cool to have options for a tow/haul with increase in power/ and braking mode but I understand it'd be hard to do that unless we reflash the truck completely as there's not a module/switch we can attach it to. More realistically if we could eliminate all bucking and hesitation down low, improve engine braking (this truck, even with 33's literally has NO engine braking ability at all) Control Revhang better, and I fully support the different maps for the different mods. It'd be awesome to tailor the truck to be useful to drive off road. Just keep in mind that a lot of the Northerners use 4H for daily driving for months at a time so I wouldn't make it too crazy different as it'll still need to be road friendly. However 4L definitely could use a lot of improvement. The truck is VERY jerky in 4L, still has no engine braking/cannot hold a decent down a hill requiring dangerous use of brakes which leads to skidding and loss of steering ability on the loose/sloppy stuff.

    For those asking for a "2L mode" I don't think that's possible as that deals with the transfer case and the front axle, not the throttle and fuel maps.

    As far as engine braking goes... there's no reason why I should be able to go from 6th to 3rd or 2nd and still have to hit the brakes because the truck will just chill at 5-6K rpms for ever.

    Also, My retention bonus will hopefully kick in soon, and I will finally be buying the tune at the end of the month!!!

    Locker anytime isn't MT specific but I would really like to know if its possible through the ECU since the 3rd gen "grey wire" equivalent thread died. It would save some money by not tempting me to buy an ARB when I regear eventually. Gotta have some sweet locked 2HI pre-runner action.

    I would prefer we didn't overwrite auto LSD. I use it on days when it snows but it's not deep enough / consistent enough snow to use 4WD. Actually works pretty well for for an electronic/brake system. (But you cant use it with stability control off, so for hooning I'd still like to have the locker in 2HI).

    I'd also rather not overwrite ATRAC. I haven't used it much. But we paid for it...

    I'm actually pretty happy with the tune as is. The difference from stock is night and day. I'd still like to see the high RPM rev hang issue addressed and the flex octane (87/91/93) on 1 tune is intriguing for piece of mind for road trips.

    EDIT: A 4L specific map is a good idea. i think I would rather have a lighter tip in in 4L but it seems others want it the other way? And didn't think about ATRAC only being engaged in 4L. Having it act as an ECT button in the other modes is fine with me as long as it's still ATRAC in 4L.

    I think the alpha thread has proven to me that a locker anytime mod will end up with trucks upside down in ditches. I don't want to develop dangerous features that people can't use responsibly.

    ATs are why we can't have nice things LOL. I get it from a liability perspective. ARBs it is then.

    I'm not talking about overwritting Auto LSD per se, it would still act the same but with a specific ECU tune oriented for performance. Not sure how feasible that is though, or if it's recommended at all.

    @OVTune

    Is it possible to help the truck “idle roll” a bit more? It can barely crawl up my driveway without stuttering. 87fob seems to help that quite a bit but its nice to be able to roll like that.

    Personally, id like to remove any rev hang and engine braking. Florida.

    I’d like a dyno tested and road test MT map, not something shot from the hip.

    that is already planned when we do our flex fuel testing we will be using a MT truck to also do additional dyno development. This other stuff would be in addition to that.

    Emphasis on the street testing :thumbsup:

    - Mid-range "torque hole" in the upper gears (highway test);
    - Rev hang;
    - Blip inconsistencies across driving conditions. It just isn't predictable when you're moving;
    - Engine braking, and the weird DFCO cycle;
    - Stuttering/hesitations;

    I'm sure there's more..

    Purchased OVTune a few months ago. Downloaded all the information for tune. I tried to install the software last night but worried because I did not see my "stock" factory tune in the Tune folder. The only tune that was in the folder is the 1.05 tune. How do you save the Stock tune to retrieve it at a later date? Or does it download the stock tune when it uploads the 1.05 tune. I would like the option to upload the stock tune when taking it to the dealer. Damn, was so ready to get this done last night, any help will be great. Thanks

    Like many have said, remove the anti-stall feature (whatever it is) cause it its 737 max 8ing us to death sometimes. 4lo, crawling along, engine braking a bit, then it lets go and launches you. Let me stall for fucks sake (even though it isn't really that close to stalling at that rpm). Whatever its doing, whether simply opening throttle, or adding fuel, i would bet could be changed.

    Same in 4hi and 2hi for that matter. Certainly could use more aggressive engine braking, at least in lower gears. Higher gears can coast.

    For the love of god, get rid of the rev hang man!
