Cooper Discoverer vs Falken Wildpeak vs Hankook

I searched around most of the tire threads here but have a few questions about these that i didn't see answered anywhere.

I have the Hankook DynaPro's now and the traction is fine but my gripe is they are a little noisy. I had the Falken Wildpeak A/T's before and i don't remember the road noise issue but i think it was an older version tire that i don't see anymore.
I know Cooper Discoverers are popular so im wondering how they compare on these issues. Road noise and ride are probably slightly more important because I'm on the road 90% of the time but i don't want to give up too much on traction for when im on the occasional beach or dirt trail and hit some mud

Thoughts?

I’m currently sitting at discount tire having wildpeaks put on my truck after the experience my brother has had with them. Lol

My brother has had wildpeaks for probably 50,000 miles now and is completely sold on them. I’ve ridden with him numerous times and I have noticed zero difference between stock tire noise and the wildpeaks. Also to note is most of his time is on pavement.

 

Word. Are they the Wildpeak AT3's or the original A/T? I had the original ones but don't see them much anymore

 

I’ve had two sets of dynapro ATM’s on my tacos. The second set of hankooks i did not like and took back to discount tire and swapped them for the cooper discovery at3 4s, I like the ride and look better on the coopers.

 

i have had both... P265/75R16 Hankook dynapro atm rf10's ..... They were OK tires, had OK traction on snow and ice for the first part of their life, but about 20k miles in they got real slippery (due to siping not being full tread depth) and LOUD

The hankooks were replaced at 40k miles due to a blowout of one of them... Will never touch those tires again.

I switched to an LT265/75R16 Load range C of the Original Cooper Discoverer AT3 (the NON 4s model).... and have regretted this decision. LT C while not much heavier than a P / SL rated, is definitely felt in both performance (acceleration and braking) as well as MPGs. These tires have met the same fate as the Hankooks before them... good for the first 15-20k miles... but at their current 27 k miles they are SUPER slippery in the wet / snow / Ice due to siping not being full lug depth, they have gotten almost unbearably noisy as well. I will NOT be buying these tires again either.


Im just waiting for the P265/75R16 Michelin Defender LTX M/S to come back in stock.... im over sub par traction / performance / mpgs / noise of AT tires in everything that i do only for some looks. There is not a single all season tire that will match the Defender LTX M/S in ice / light snow / wet traction, or noise level, or longevity... Needless to say I have regretted every tire decision I have made after having used the Michelin's in the past.

 

How would you compare the ride smoothness and road noise of the two

 

I think the ride is the same and the noise is just a tad less on the cooper.

 

The tires on my Tacoma are fine for a while, but my F150 will need new tires this summer or early fall. I've been debating too. I've been using Coopers for years on several vehicles and have no serious complaints. I was leaning toward trying the Falkens this time. But some negative reviews here and on other forums has me doubting. I'll decide in a few months, and the price at the time may make the decision for me. But if I had to buy new tires today I'd go back with Coopers.

 

AT3s. I’ve now put about 150 miles on since I had mine put on and I can’t even tell I have a different tire on until I get out of my truck.

 

Amen brother, when you buy michelins your tire problems are over.

 

Been hearing some good stuff about the Wildpeak AT3's. Im wonderimg if i should add Nitto Terra Grappler to the list, ive heard they have real low road noise

After evaluating the QPR and talking with others at the shop I went with the 17” AT3’s. Very pleased. I noticed no difference in road noise. Perform great in rain and snow. Rain was the biggest for me since I drive on the highway in the rain a good bit. They do throw scraps from the road a bit so depending on size you might want some flares if you are going off-road.

Nitto seems to be marketing heavily so they came “recommended” by a number of shops I visited. In the end, I saved $50 per tire going with the AT3s.

Only draw back I have found is that they aren’t made in the USA.

 

No difference in road noise between the AT3's and the Coopers?
