When we bought that old place there was a double pane sliding glass door. I used black duct tape to cover outside edge of broken out pane to get us by for a few. But one of our goats pulled it open and came into living room dropping peanut turds :annoyed::anonymous:

I have fresh doors leading to my second story terrasse. They work fine with no real issues. I have found it practical during parties that both doors open & give guests a better walking area to the bar. Sliding doors remind me of a mobile home for some reason.

Have you considered buying a boat?

I'd like them for the ability to move large items through, but I'm leery if it makes the wall less stable.

Why, is @FadedComa selling his truck?

its not load bearing, the header above the doorway should already be made to hold the roof. I like french door vs sliding door anyday. Only problem I had was we got a cheap door and it let wind in but it did improve the look of the house. ours doors opened in...:anonymous:

Yeah, it may have just been poor craftsmanship. They built the house really fast. In under a year the foundation had shifted enough that doors didn't shut, and long cracks developed in the walls. If you slammed the back door the whole wall rocked. Probably could've pushed it down if you tried.

How much is something like this to fix?

Is it a DIY job if patient?

I would paint, I’m just curious about fixing the sides and cracks

I’m fairly good doing housework I do construction with garage doors all the time which given isn’t as exact as some of this I’m afraid.
