Apparently there's a whole set, and a gold guy. I don't even care if the whiskey is good, this is gonna get expensive!

If you make it to Lexington check out The Justins' House of Bourbon (to buy bottles), Belles, Blue grass Tavern,The Village Idiot for Whiskey and also Sidebar for a badass burger in a shitty dive bar.

    Thanks for the tip!

Headed to Bardstown right now for the Heaven Hill tour. Much of the afternoon is open, so I'll try to get out that way.

Well look at you being all fancy :p

Edit- I need to actually find a new favorite rocks glass, something a little smaller. The one in my photo worked great when I drank my whiskey/whisky on the rocks, but lately I've been on a 'neat' or 'with a splash' kick and my drams just look...disappointing

I strongly recommend a glencairn, they are only like 6, 7 bucks at a liqour store.
You can raise your pinky after every sip too.

Get back there & buy up all the Hibiki! It's a damn solid hitter at retail price!

I'll recap the whole thing after I fly home tomorrow, but had to share this.

I got to pop the bung on a barrel at Jim Beam, then thieve it. Super cool. It was from the Jim Beam Black location of the warehouse, but aged to just shy of 7 years and, obviously, barrel strength (118 proof).

Drove around our circle and hit up a few stores that I don't have time for during the week.

Pic of the haul from the weekend.

    20190407_094530-02.jpg

I can get some of that stuff locally, but getting a bottle of Buffalo Trace and EH Taylor at Buffalo Trace was just too neat to pass up. The Mellow Corn I can sometimes find, but I've never bought, so figured I'd give it a whirl since I was at Heaven Hill. Been looking to try that Evan Williams BiB, too. Both of those were very cheap grabs. The little bottles are Elijah Craig Barrel Selects - affectionately called "Grenades". 125 proof Elijah Craig. It is a gift shop only bottle limited to one per customer, so I obviously had to schmooze a few folks to buy me some extras for the boys back home. ;)

The Legent was a bottle I haven't seen locally, *yet*, and was cheaper than at the liquor stores, so I snagged one. The most spiritual purchase was getting the latest Booker's batch from the grounds where Booker's is produced. 2019-01 before it gets to Texas. So damn cool for a Booker's fan.

I got a little more swag than what is pictured, but the Buffalo Trace shirt was such a perfect fit for a BBQ guy like me that drinks whiskey. I thought the Mellow Corn shirt was pretty sweet, too.

I have some bitters and old fashion mixes from a couple places. I'll get a pic of those after I get home and unpack.

I have a couple of those, both in standard size and the miniature 'perfect drams' that they give away at sampling events, but they're annoying.

I like sampling with a Glencairn, but they're less satisfying to hold/drink from, somehow. Maybe it's the weight? I like a 'weighty' glass; just a personal quirk. And they're a little snooty, like you said. Plus there's all the extra neck bending and puckering up just to get a sip...so much work.

Regardless, the GF dragged me to Goodwill on our way to dinner out on Saturday evening, so I wandered around their 'glassware' section and found an 8oz rocks glass for $1 (with a nice heavy base)

At some point I'd like to pick up a nice vintage set of bar glasses, (a full set; rocks, collins, highball, etc). I've noticed that the antique glasses tend to be a bit smaller than the modern ones, for some reason.
