This is the worst it's been in our lifetimes (link below). Several questions were raised when they blew the levee. They intentionally flooded 130k acres that had homes in it. They also did it at night, which is odd. They also did it on the same night the river was predicted to crest.

This is 25 miles from me. It was interesting to say the least.

The land is very flat out there though.
And you have streams closer to you?

I've driven through Illinois a few times.
People say Kansas is flat. No, it isn't.
    Illinois is flat. :p

I camped out in Illinois once when I hitch hiked across country in 1974. (That's another story).
The skeeters were absolutely unbelievable.
It was like the old joke about two skeeters having an argument.
One says, lets take this human into the bushes and eat him there.
The second one says, nah, then the big guys will steal him from us.

My condolences. My father passed away 3 years ago. Lived in AZ. I also drove that route to get home while he was still in hospice. That Hatch shortcut is essential.

Beautiful day today. Time for beers, dogs, truck stuff, and girls!

I feel your pain. Mine died 15 years ago. He was in his 50's. He bought me a lawn mower right before he died as a sort of parting gift. Since then mowing has been "his" time. I wish my kid could have known him longer. They both have the same smartass sense of humor.

I have only bought my wife one piece of jewelry (I think) that she didn't return and get something else. I pretty much gave up on that.

We've learned we both like cash or gift cards to the place of our choosing.
I once bought my wife a purse. Hahahahahahahaha.

About the second year we were married I bought my wife a sweater based on the size of her clothes in the closet. Turned out to be too large and almost resulted in divorce. Never again.

Yeah I always took my daughters along to shop for my wife. They started making me wait in the car. Hell, I thought thigh-high boots and leopard mini skirt was a fine idea.
