Can anyone explain what are the good numbers for short term and long term fuel trims? Also why can't we get a live afr reading in the ultra gauge instead of just the wideband?

What are the more useful Guages to use on the ultragauge and why? I'm new to having live data I would like to get the best ones in screen 1 and 2 for viewing the things that are most important and what to look for.

Magnusun supercharged 4.0 trd injectors cai and throttle body spacer. Currently running bully dog but waiting for pcm to get in to flash the TRD tune on.

On screen 1 I have as follows
Coolant temp - torque converter ATF temp
Torque converter lock (1 or 0) - pan ATF temp
    MPH - KmPH

On screen 2 I have the short and long term fuel trim readings.

My gauges are programmed to alternate between these two screens every 5 seconds or so.

I couldn't explain fuel trim values as I have not made time to teach myself. But, in general, you want fuel trim values under 10%. You also want the total trim values (short and long added together) under 10%. If total fuel trim is greater than plus 10%, the PCM thinks the air/fuel ratio is too lean and will add fuel to bring short trim values to the correct range.

I have no answer for AFR readings.

This needs to be posted in the supercharger tips/ tricks thread, as you will gain much more traction for an answer there.

That being said, ideal fuel trims at all time should be below 4.7% both in positive and negative forms and indicates a proper running condition both on the lean and rich scale. Bank 2 will always be slightly higher as the supercharger rests above that bank and additional fuel along with pulled timing are strategies the PCM utilizes to keep that bank cool. Particularly cylinder 6.

Proper AFR should be between 14.6-14.8 range but target and most ideal is 14.7 which is stochiometric. I hope this helps.

Long term fuel trims within +/- 5% are generally what I like to see. Short term fuel trims can be all over the place while driving, but at idle with no load I also like to see it within +/- 5%.

When I had my Ultragauge, for AFR I looked at Lambda values. Take Lambda multiply it by 14.7 and the result is your AFR.

    0.8 lambda = 11.7:1 AFR
    1.0 lambda = 14.7:1 AFR
    1.2 lambda = 17.6:1 AFR

On my UltraGauge the Lambda maxed out at 1.223. I never saw how low it would go, but assuming it has the same amount of swing in both directions:

    14.7*0.223=3.2781
14.7-3.2781=11.4219 (this would be the richest it would ever display)
14.7+3.2781=17.9781 (this would be the leanest it would ever display)

Keep in mind that the Ultraguage screen doesn't update very fast, so it will only give you a general idea for values that change rapidly, like Lambda and short term fuel trim do.

No it's not. Ideally you want 11-11.5 AFR under max boost which is where gasoline makes the most power.

I was referring to all situations outside of boost including but not limited to cruise which is where you live in most of the time.

Because you really only spend about 5-10% of your drive cycles under boost.

Do you have the Ultragauge EM Plus or the MX? I can't explain good numbers for the fuel trims, but I might set up a page on mine and check it out. You can't get a A/F ratio reading because you need to install an O2 sensor after the catalytic converters where the Y-pipe merge together and install a wideband A/F sensor module to an A/F ratio gauge. Since you have a SC, you should look into getting a boost gauge and A/F ratio gauge installed.

On page 1 I use the 8 gauges per page option. I set 1 to Brake Horsepower 1, set 2 to Torque 1, set 3 to % Engine Load, set 4 to Bank 1 Wide 0xygen Sensor 1 Lambda, set 5 to Air Intake Temperature, set 6 to Mass Air Flow Sensor 1, set 7 to Catalytic Converter Bank 1 Sensor 1 Temperature and set 8 Catalytic Converter Bank 2 Sensor 2 Temperature. I like having my gauges set to monitoring performance and temperatures.

I also have a Scangauge II but it only displays 4 gauges on screen. I have the coolant temperature, voltage, transmission fluid in the torque converter and transmission fluid in the pan displayed on the Scangauge II. Keep in mind, if you want to set the Ultragauge for HP and Torque, you need to have the Load absolute % displayed also.

If you have the MX model, you can display transmission fluid temperatures. The EM Plus model does not.

Page 29 on the PDF manual:
Note: In order for the KW1/HP1 or TRQ1 gauge to function, the “%Engine Load” gauge must be placed in the next display position. For example, If HP1 is at position 2, and TRQ1 is at position 3, then % Engine Load must be placed at position 4. Also, TRQ1 and HP1 should be in adjacent positions, i.e., 1 & 2, or 2 & 3, or 3 & 4, etc. Note For modified engines, alter the Torque value to represent the new estimated Torque. Note. Horsepower/KW 1 & 2 are provided as competing methods of determining the power output of the engine. In general HP1 is likely to be more accurate. However, use which ever provides the most reasonable results for your vehicle.

I have a TRD Supercharger, aFe Stage-2 Si Pro Dry S CAI, JBA Cat4ward Shorty Headers and a TRD Performance Exhaust. I am running the TRD ECU Flash.
    Hope this information helps.

Can you explain why you have those Guages set on your pages? For performance Wise? I have an MX and also I have a wide band and boost Guage I just like the idea of having a secondary to make sure it is what it says it is

    Mahalos for the chime in!

I edited my first post because I have 8 gauges displayed and forgot to add the air intake temperature.

I like to see my hp, torque and engine load displayed so I can check the load to see how hard the engine is working. The air gauges give me an idea how the air temps are performing and how efficiently the MAF is working.

Since you have the MX model, I would highly suggest displaying both of the transmission temps. Keeping an eye on how hot fluids are getting and if something is overheating is optimal.

Good shit on having a boost and a/f ratio gauges! Monitoring the SC performance is great to see if everything is working correctly. Your a/f ratio gauge should read around 14.7. Any lower means you are running lean, any higher means you are running rich. A little rich is much better than running a little lean.

It won't let me display transmission temp?

What am I looking for number wise for the cats, 02 sensor lambda and the MAF?

Anyone have some info on the best AFR numbers @ WOT . I just installed the 2.85 pulley on TRD tune. Fuel Pump is stock. I have a AEM Wideband, but was cautious about checking WOT reading for fear of lean condition. I did about 3/4 throttle, and numbers were around 11.3ish
Concern is about upgrading fuel pump with smaller pulley installed. Some members say to Walbro, Deatschwerks, AEM the pump...and other boosted members @Ostrichsak says no need .

Where did you get your pulley from? Urd is sold out of the 2.85 pulley I can't find one anywhere. As far as I'm aware, that's really rich. It wouldn't be a bad idea for upgrading the pump but if you got rich condition there no need?
