I tried to get them to ride over with me to take a look, but they wouldn’t go. There were people out tearing it up, but when you went up a hill with all the rain you had to go!

Easier to go up a hill with 4wd on.. I know people that go out in 2wd because it makes it more difficult ..

This is something I don’t understand. If you want harder, hit a harder trail. If you want tire spinning mud bogging, go to a mud oriented off road park.

Tearing a trail up for the sake of doing it blows my mind.. but I’m a Leave No Trace master educator so I guess I’m more aware than most of the general public..

That's why I come home with a bunch of bottles, cans, parts, etc. in the bed of my truck or in the trasharoo every time I got out. Also I think Tim was refering to me riding the essentially dirt road trails in 2wd just because he likes to bring that up. I do all the "harder" climbs or obstacles in 4wd. He doesn't like seeing pre-runners out there either. There is always going to be those out there that "tear" trails up. Watch some of the SRRS those hill climbs they do even in 4wd change dramatically because those big tired buggies dig into the hill, is that tearing a trail up so to speak. I don't like seeing the big mud wallows created that just gets annoying. You should know that even just riding the same paths over and over again slowly changes the landscape and can have an impact on the enviroment, hell they change the AT, CDT, PCT yearly based on how much foot traffic "damage" has done to the landscape let alone mother nature issues.

With the conditions you would slide down the hills and even fishtail going up today. Probably not the best time to be out but the guys I was with had to plan it in advance.
There were several drop offs on the easier trails now where you have to watch your bumper.
We had fun, but knew we weren’t experienced enough to tackle anything more difficult today. There were tons of groups out there and more crowded than I have seen it.

Also to mention, the park service was very present today and even checked us out.

Next time I am out, I will probably go when dry and dusty. Probably a weekday also, which will be all I have until after July.

I like weekday riding I did it several times last yr just solo to just trail ride and get away from the rat race. It's peaceful and you can just take your time and not really have to worry about running into another soul on the trails hardly.

One guy I was with had a lunchbox locker in the front. He ran 2wd some today, but he was behind me taking it easy. Well I am a pokey driver anyway, but had to be a little more aggressive today..

I did it solo several times last year no issue, but was dry also. Hoping I will have the suspension on in a few weeks and before I head back out there.

News in Dutch. My friends decided to run Dutch today, I was working..
The two lifted Jeeps did ok. The stock Rubicon got stuck 3 times. It took them 4hrs to do the trail.
I was told I would have been stuck everywhere the Rubicon got stuck. Said I would have bottomed out stock on the hill also. The Rubicon started leaking oil and was winched up the hill.
Said when they finally made it to the hill they didn’t think they were getting off the trail.
That’s just the word I got and thought I would pass it along..

I didn’t see anything quite that dramatic yesterday, but did see one spinning as hard as it could up and down the hill till it made it over.
I did see a couple full size dodge trucks out, that was interesting.

I'll be out there on the 21st-23rd camping and doing some wheeling. Trying out the new sliders and skids. If anyone wants to join let me know. Going to camp out for a couple days

Looking at heading down there from Charlotte next Friday (4/19). Likely flying solo. Have a winch. First time there, and first time going in my 18' OR 6spd. Looking to just "enjoy" it a bit. Any recommendations on easier trails than others? Places to avoid?
