Might be a noob question but how do you keep your tow hook from being stolen?

You need to remove the D-ring to loop the eye of a strap through it, so there's no reason to keep the D-ring installed by itself. I keep the D-ring in the bag with my recovery rope when I go off-roading.

Oh he knew. I told him some years ago when I was visiting in 2006. I stole them in 1997 when I got my new Haro bike lol. He laughed and said they usually get stolen if he parks his car for a decent amount of time outside lol. More importantly he forgave me

Considering you would need to unscrew it to use it, loctite would be pointless. If you’re worried about it take it off and throw it under your rear seat.

If you really wanted to secure it, then you can get these. But I wouldn’t unless you have a high quality shackle worth saving. Normal shackles are $10 so easy to replace.

Put a screw driver through the hole and tighten it. That should keep anyone from taking it without needing tools to remove it. It also should help the pin from just rattling out and losing it and the shackle. Easy enough to undo when you need it.

Maybe it’s late and I’m too tired to comprehend, but did a guy who owns a locking hitch pin just come in here to ask how to prevent his hitch d-ring from being stolen? I’m having trouble deciding whether to laugh or cry...

In that case Loctite seems like the simplest solution to discourage thieves. I wouldn’t want to weld or otherwise permanently attach an aftermarket add-on but that’s just me.

I used to have the same concern, I haven't really had an issue with losing d rings. I keep a rhino d ring on in back all the time. I have bronze powder coated ones that I keep under the seat for front end recovery.
