Chipped Rims

Hey guys, I just got my new rims installed yesterday and noticed some chipping around the lug nut area (I guess from the impact?) I'm going to go to the shop today but I was just wondering if it's repairable and about how much it would be? Thanks

Yeah I didn't notice at the place, just looked around the edges, I hoping it can be fixed

 

They did that to brand new wheels? Where they kids installing the wheels? Wow that's horrible. I'd be pissed.

 

Yeah I wish I had noticed when I was there, was on the road all day and the place was about to close so I didn't take a close enough look

 

Let us know what happens I wouldn't want that fixed I'd want it replaced. Those are new.

 

Okay I just finished talking to the manager and he is submitting a claim for me, upon further examination all 4 if the rims were chipped or damaged in some way once I took the center caps off, it's not much but still infuriating as they were brand new the day I brought them in

 

It should be replaced not repaired

They are brand new wheels, push for replacement.

 

The tech didn't know what they were doing. You can from what I see take the lug nuts off and remove the center caps from the rear so there would be no prying.

 

Some of the kids these shops hire... totally sloppy work, treat your property like a fisher price toy...that's fine if you're working on 10+ year old cars for some independent mechanic shop downtown but if you're going to work on new vehicles you better know what you're doing.

 

That's what I'll do but I know they'll just want to refresh them or something

How much were the rims? Sometimes refinishing is more expensive than just purchasing new ones. Proper refinishing cost around $250 per wheel.

How is it fine for a paid service to damage your property? That makes zero sense to me.

 

Ok then. Take the refinishing money and live with the scratches. Free set of rims!
