I got my kit before the instructions were made so.i didn't see that. What is the purpose of removing the eyelet?

I think it's to better align the actuator rod to measure it for cutting and bending. I didn't need to do that. Couldn't pop it off anyway.

This is correct. I actually didn’t even know it came off when I did my install 3 years ago so...

It’s easy enough to just angle the rod on the actuator underneath and get the right fit- spent more time trying to separate than doing it all together in the end

Anybody try putting something like dynamat in the tailgate to dampen the clunk from the lock?

I installed mine a couple days ago and I gotta say, this kit was fantastic! The instructions were clear, the kit looked great, it was a quick install, and it works great. Thank you for making this, I was real happy not to have to hack into my wiring.

U really don’t hear it when all the doors lock and unlock simultaneously.

The sound of it working is a bit blown out of proportion.

Do note I used rubber and dyno around the actuator. But cannot imagine that much of a difference

Was working on mine this afternoon and was trying to remove the eyelet from actuator, how is that done exactly without breaking it? Stopped doing it just to not break the plastic.

I didn’t do that step- I kept it all together to get the rod measured etc

It’s somewhat helpful. I also ended up buying some vulcanized rubber rings to use as spacers. Took the stress off the actuator and that LEGO plastic piece that you drill into. Straight through with a couple 8/32X3” screws. I’ll take couple more pics when I do my friends install on her taco

Got mine installed today. I didn’t realize how important the location of where you drill the hole into the plastic of the locking mechanism is. Do not make your hole touch the existing greased area. Mine does a little and this means the rod will make contact when trying to open the tailgate when locked.Still works and stays locked but would have rather this not be the case for longevity purposes.

Anyways hope that tip helps others with their install! Thanks again @KTJO 4x4

@KTJO 4x4 .....just installed the full kit. Instructions were excellent....I did it in under an hour without any issues whatsoever. Love the harness and not having to splice. Thanks again!!!

Meh. Not as well as I'd hoped. I put a sheet that covered the whole under side of the area where the actuator is mounted then 4 smaller sheets on the skin where the Tacoma is stamped. Sounds okay I guess. Idk what they sound like normally though
