Anyone regret getting SR5 over TRD?

Much rather have a trd had a 13’ sr5 4x4 The trd blows it outta the park ride quality way better

 

My 04 and 15 were both OR and my 19 is SR5. I didn't want a push button start. Crawl control looks cool but doubt I'd use it much. Will put on new tires and maybe locker down the road. I'm happy with the truck. Guess I'll buy a TRD sticker to make myself feel better?

 

I did this exact thing. Got the almost new (like 10 miles) yellow Bilsteins for $200 and removed the Hitachis. It has a slightly smoother ride. I don't regret the swap OR the fact that I bought an SR5. I love it.

 

Same here. $36k OTD for a fully loaded TRDOR. I'm a fairly good negotiator.

That being said, I probably could have negotiated an SR5 down to $30k or so. No regrets for me. Even if I swap the suspension and never use the diff lock or crawl control, resale is better on TRD models.

 

Nah, I love the Flairless look and the SR5 has all the goodies I need without all the fluff no one really uses.

I didn't. I paid 33K for it after rebate. The 36K is AFTER taxes. They gave me a check and paid for my registration too. Wasn't thrown in the loan.

The only reason I went TRDOR over SR5 is the manual transmission. It’s a truck, get it off the pavement, put on a perma-grin, and go!

 

Yep, SR5 ($31K) to TRD OR (~$35K).
Many reasons, but I had a learning curve where I really didn’t know exactly what I needed until I actually got and used it.

SR5 suspension is very street. TRD Sport is middle ground. TRD OR is softer/smoother.
I do a lot of highway driving, so I changed suspension to Sport and added back the air dam. If you are on pothole or dirt roads, you will like OR better. If you are a road warrior, SR5/TRD Sport are more stiff.

Softer is the word I would use... like driving a Lincoln instead of a Ford Focus.

EDIT: Personally, I wanted responsiveness. I’m not a fan of body sway in lane changes, etc.

 

Interesting. Learned something new. I figured the OR suspension was stiffer therefore making it less smoother on the road, but better for off road.

 

Off-road you want more give... stiffer breaks things.

 

I’m happy this thread popped up. I bought my 19 SR5 a couple weeks buy and almost immediately thought I might have chosen poorly. I also paid quite a bit more than I should’ve, but was sorta in a hole with my previous car so I didn’t really have a lot of leverage

 

TLDR- I love my SR5 and while I wish it had a locker from factory I am looking forward to spending the little bit I saved and probably a lot more (thanks tw) making it my own lol.

I went with the SR5 over the offroad mainly for the simpler interior. I didn't really want all the bells and whistles. I wanted to make the truck my own so I didn't see the need to spend extra at the dealer. The only "regret" I have is that it doesn't have a locker. I got by without one for a long time (before I got my fx4) but it will be a bit of an adjustment going back. They aren't nearly as do or die as a lot of people make them out to be- at least for where most people end up taking their trucks. I will install an aftermarket locker eventually, but it is definitely lower on the priority list than other mods.

 

Don't get me wrong, I love the truck. I'm just beating myself in the head for not checking out the OR. Literally for another $30 a month I could have gotten the OR. Live and learn I guess.

 

Yeah locker would have been nice, but for me I honestly don't do much off roading except when I go shooting deep in the desert. That's really the only reason I wanted 4X4. In case in the unlikely event I need it out there. Also I live near the mountains and in the winter when its snows you cant go up there unless you have chains or 4X4.

 

I feel that. Lol. Made the same mistake! But it’s whatever now. I’m looking forward to adding a rear air locker and different suspension on my own.
