    Hey Everyone,

I am going to do my first oil change with this truck tomorrow(2019 SR5 with the 3.5). I am only at 4.2k miles, but I just upgraded tires so I am going to go ahead and do the oil so I can just change/rotate together every 5k.

With my trucks in the past (all f150s) I have always bought the oil filter from the dealership parts department. Is there any benefit to doing that for this truck as well? Or is there a high quality 3rd party oil filter any of you trust that I could use?

My dealership is closed tomorrow and I would like to be able to change my oil if possible.

I just use the OEM filters. I bought a box of 10 for like $4 a filter. Might be a little bit of a difference for the 3rd gen but the Toyota filters are great.

Yeah that kinda confirms my thoughts on it. I will just buy the oem and do it next time I have time. @Tigerian where did you get the box of 10?

+1 for the K&N available at Wally Mart (“performance silver” I think they’re called). Taco uses the same filter as the 3.5 in my 16 IS350. The IS has gotten those since the first oil change, no problems.

This is what the K&N 7020 from Walmart looked like upon removal on my last oil change.
They seem to be a bit too tall. Perhaps not that it matters.

Edit: I also had an OEM filter, so I just used it instead.

The dealer changed my last K&N out and the tech looked at it and thought it was doing good (i did my own between there's) i don't think the little longer makes anything "wrong" i may look into it but have 3 K&N on the shelf waiting for me

That deflection is caused by the tremendous TORQUE of our engines... And displayed on top of the Walmart oil change liner, it nestled atop the wife's throw blanket that she'll never miss. You hope.

Get a Wix or wait for the OEM.
