What did you drive before your Taco?

2018 Subaru STi. 6spd MT. Crystal White.

 

1st gen Taco


98 wrangler, so many issues but very fun

 

I drove a 2002 Tundra single cab, long box, 4x4, 4.7 V8. Still have it and cannot get what it is worth so still have it. Only have 79,000 miles.

 

2018 Mazda 3 6sp mt (poor choice...great car, but I love doing outdoor activities too much...was mostly for commuting)

2001 Subaru Forester 5sp mt (good ol nightmare 2.5)


94 Miata 5sp mt

 

2004 Titan 4x4 OR on 35” Toyo AT2’s, PRG Products mini lift, PRG OR Traction Bars, JBA Longtubes, Cajun tuning high flow cats, and B-Pipes, mangaflow dumped, Uprev Tuned, volant Gen II CAI, Kenwood DNX512 HU, clarion mono amp, Sony 4ch amp, 2 Kenwood 10’s, 6.5” components up front, 6.5 2 ways in rear. Traded it in on a 2016 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk for the wife. And drove her 03’ Eddie Beaur Expedition until I picked up my Taco. Really dig getting back into the “moding” again. Lol since she won’t let me mod the Jeep. Lol

 

It was!! Hard decision to let it go. 2 extra leaves in the rear with Bilstein 5100's. It carried a load way better than my Taco that now has the same set-up. If it had the 3.0 I might have kept it but the 4.0 was a pain to keep up with and I had put a $4k transmission in it. The plus was it sold me on having access cab doors.

I thought me having 4 cars already was a lot!

 

Ok, I'll admit it. I drove a Dodge Dakota. The sales guy was kinda apologetic when he stated what he could give me for it when I bought my Tacoma. He didn't realize I got away with a deal on it. The damn thing needed a rear end rebuild, a transfer case rebuild and few other high dollar fixes.

 

First car was an old beater Subaru Outback.
Then I had 1996 VW golf. Fun little car.
After that got a 2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege. Really fun car.
Liked that Mazda so I got a 2009 Mazdaspeed 3. That was a fast car I really liked it but wanted a truck, so got the Tacoma. And love it.
Also has a fun beater Jeep Grand Cherokee.

2007 Mini Cooper S with Stage 1 John Cooper 1 Rally Kit. Some crazy package they had in Germany. Freaking loved that thing and still miss having something small and zippy.

After that was a 2013 VW Jetta TDI. Also has a special place in my heart. 0-60 I think was around 7 seconds, but got 65mpg! I could go over 600mi on a 13 gallon Tank. The photo attached we went camping and it was frozen and raining on the way back so I got some Ice Made Side Skirts.

Also had a 2013 Ninja 650 which I bought brand new in 2015. Was two years old, never had an owner and had 3 miles on it from the store owner pushing it back and forth from the showroom to storage every day for two years. I got it for $4900 when sticker price was $8,200. So I kept it for a year, added some million color lights and sold it for $6,500.

Each one served a purpose and I miss each one differently. But I still love the robustness, the reliability and capability of the Tacoma. I told myself If I ever bought a house I'd have a truck.

I've been very blessed to have some bad ass vehicles.

 

I love my 6 speed taco. But if I had another car, I'd probably get an auto truck
