Will there be enough water to keep the trap from drying out and letting sewer gas back into the house ?

Just saw the answer. Now you have a drain in place for a dedicated ice machine.

Yeah....added some water and food coloring....makes a water-level. Used the water level to keep my media wall layed out nice and level from side to side. In my opinion, if a water-level is setup and used correctly it is very accurate. Here is a photo of the media wall and the openings built using a water-level. Love my 6ft Stabila for making sure my walls are true. I also used the water level to get the measurements of each short upright coming off the bottom plate (concrete floor was too wavy).

Valid concern:thumbsup: I had the same concern also. But there really is no difference between using this wall drain or a floor drain. The house was originally designed and built for the furnace/AC unit to drain to a floor drain. It was only after great deliberation that I decided to move the furnace. The move necessitated that I move the electrical (not a problem), the gas line (not a problem), the AC charged line (which had to be moved anyway), and the condensate drain. My opinion the easiest fix for the drain was the wall drain.

Long story short, the wall drain (the same as the floor drain) will require that I inspect it from time to time to make sure the p-trap is filled.

Thank goodness, I have a friend that owns his own HVAC business. So he can build the ductwork.

Furnace in old location (in doorway of new layout). PVC pipe is furnace/AC line to floor drain. Not a good pic but hope you get an idea.

    Truth.

Functioning hood was one of the "must haves" in our kitchen reno for the GF. Actually finally got the last bit of electric hooked up, so many stinking lights now!IMG_20190406_210719.jpg

We always plumb the drains for HRV / HWT in a seperate pipe that is not tied into the sewer system for similar concerns
