    I'd have to cut off all those brackets and weld on spring perches. Easier to get the bare housing and build from scratch, which is what I'll be doing.

    The 9" is a good balance between strength and weight. My Ford runs a Dana 60 but it has 400+ hp and 800 ft-lbs of torque. The Tacoma won't come close to needing that kind of beef so the 9" will be more than sufficient.

    I plan on running a spool for reliability and even more weight savings.

    So much for that idea haha. You've got it figured out pretty well:)
