What did you drive before your Taco?

I wish I bought a bike. I just really dont trust other drivers enough to risk my life over it

 

I had a '99 Grand AM that I drove for about 9 years.
I replaced almost everything on it. Was the biggest POS I've ever known but it got me around pretty well. Was okay in the mud too lmao!

-Headlights both replaced. Driver side three times. Once from when I rear ended an F150 (both). Drivers side flew out going down the highway twice. Also one time it flew out and flipped up onto the hood at night and nearly blinded me.
-Taillights both replaced.
-Front bumper cover replaced twice. (once from F150, second from Coyote)
-All lifters came apart so those got replaced within a month of driving it. Sounded like a lawn mower.
-Hood once.
-Head gasket blew at exactly 150k miles. Resurfaced the head and sucked all the crap out of it with a wet/dry vac with a straw duct taped to the end lol (Redneck Ingenuity)
-The rear bumper cover was torn off while off roading it...and then held on with wire.
-Driver's side fender was replaced after the F150 incident.
-Passenger's fender was bent from a coyote.
-Both Fog lights replaced.
-Drivers side mirror replaced.
-Drivers side window repaired 3 times and replaced the 4th. (Every other winter the glue attaching the window to the window motor would fail.)
-TONS of electrical gremlins. Needed to have the hazard button replaced because it would cause the blinkers to cut out randomly. Both mirror motors burnt up because something came loose and caused them to run all night turning left.
-Power Steering pump needed replaced.
-Alternator was replaced once.
-Batteries.
-Tensioner pulley had to be replaced after it grenaded.
-Serpentine twice. Second time was after the pulley grenaded. Also Some GM genius decided it would be a great idea to have an engine mount in the middle of the belt. So I had to unbolt the engine and lift it to get the belt off.
-Sun roof leaked and the cover wouldn't slide back right after it jumped off the track. (might've been warped from the sun)
-Dash was warped and curling up from the windshield side.
-Might drivers side vent spun freely so I had to wedge a plastic card in there to keep it pointing at me.
-Blower motor and resistor replaced. That was a PITA! The bolts were so close to the floor pan that you could barely get a tool in there to undo it, and when you did it would trap your socket before you could get it completely out.

There's probably more, but you get the gist. I'll have to upload pictures later. Thought I'd never get out from under that money pit, thank god I got a 10/hr raise.

Before my Baja my 1st gen still drive her every day going to be buried in her!

My 2003 Mach 1 fun car had comp cams, Psr, AR long tubes, tubular K and a ton of other mods fun car love those 4V motors should have never sold her!!!!

And my current 4runner that will be for sale as soon as I get more done on the Baja...

 

Jesus, I've never had to replace that much on a vehicle!

 

But that 4runner is sick though

Thanks. Still got the DB just waiting to buy a Yakima hitch rack for the Tacoma. Mtn bike season is right around the corner.

 

'02 VW Passat, 1.8t, 5 speed. Thing was a ton of fun. Absolute tank in the snow and could do 50+ over the speed limit pretty effortlessly.

Thanks I really love it it's awesome on the hwy and does well on the trails I really wanted a 2nd gen Tacoma but my wifey was dead set on a 4 runner so happy wife happy life! Fast forward and now I have 2nd gen that I am building up so we really don't need it as I would rather put another sports car in the garage since I am a gear head. The funny thing is I love the plushness of the 4runner but hate the fact that it not very utilitarian in my eyes so for me its a weird trade off...

Exactly why I sold it. Two of my friends went down within a few weeks of each other. Both broke back, one's vertebrae was rotated 180º and was 1mm away from paralyzing him. Both are walking and doing well, but It's definitely not worth it in the long run. I'd rather walk for the rest of my life.
