TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

I drilled in the back of the cab and ran daystar firewall boots. Haven't sealed the boots properly yet as I'm going to add sound deadening someday. Didn't do a battery box as it would be really tight even if you fully remove the plastic cubby (I cut away the back of the portion of the cubby the battery resides in) . Decided to get an AGM battery and be lazy and not vent properly as it shouldn't be an issue with them. Battery cable wrapped with lots of wireloom and electrical tape and run under frame.

No problem. It was a pain in the ass job because I was trying to do it an hour or two at a time and trying to beat the winter. Cold and rain and snow at the end and caught a cold on the final push due to it being my daily driver lol

I hate smog check here. I gotta start mine next year. Means swapping my Y pipe and intake once a year or w/e. The smog place like a mile from my house is right next to my current mechanic, dude is a huge Toyota fan and has a 4runner, but as soon as I was like "Hey bro so uhhh this is what I got" he immediately went full official on me and said I'd have to swap stuff out. I was bummed but I get it, they can get their certs pulled and all that if they got caught. Guess I gotta go find a shady one somewhere haha

It’s called an LS engine jks. Seriously though NASCAR engines are sweet but they’re built to live on the edge. This is similar to how some shops like Shelby will actually ask customers how long they want to go between compete rebuilds on their engine before they take on a project. Once you pass certain limits all bets are off on getting past 10k. I know the owner of the local Ford dealers pretty well and he has a supersnake with a custom engine build. From what he’s told me the car goes back in every 10k for a tear down lol. That being said I think it runs low 10s.

 

Yep. This right here. High horsepower and longevity are two words which are not synonymous in the same sentence.

Also, why Snow over AEM? I think this should be in my future and I'm just gathering input. Do you plan to leave it on all the time or only when driving exuberantly?

 

i just didnt need a 10 gallon tank lol. and i wanted everything up front. im gonna get a bed divider and a short bed meat and turn my bed basicly into a short bed so i can still use it. i chose snow just because a couple of guys on here have it and very easy to use.

 

What about leaving it on all the time?

 

The pump is the same for all meth kits. It's really a choice on controllers. I saw shakey reviews on the aem one. Snow has very good customer service.

Brian Crower stroker kits are available. Haven't been able to find cams. HP Tuner makes this kind of thing doable in my mind. We are far from shore...

I personally draw the line at supercharger and internal engine work. I did that on my GTO and while it was worth it I am drawing my line in the sand at internals.
