Very nice Jerry!!! So this controls both cams? And is "Always On" for both? Edit - Not simultaneously obviously or is it possible with a split screen?

Yes, either one can be always on. But, not both at the same time. No split screen feature. IMO the Car Solutions controller was a much easier installation than what I have seen with the Anytime Backup Camera. The camera will draw it's power and ground from the Car Solutions harness. So, you don't need to tap into the fuse panel. The most lengthy step was finding a suitable location and mounting the camera.

What's funny is he compliments "my" gun collection. Not one of those guns pictured was mine.

I finally installed my brake controller.

Thanks to @EatSleepTacos for the tip on the Chinese finger cuff wire loom to make it look OEM. I used an older Tekonsha P3 pigtail I had from a previous vehicle and spliced it into the newer one for the Taco. I made it 4' long.

    Longer_Pigtail.jpg

Before the installation I used some double sided tape and tested the placement of the controller on the lower dash areas, left and right of the steering wheel. I also tried it in the little cubie to the left of the steering wheel. In all three instances I felt like the display was too obstructed, at weird angles, too far away and the controller boost lever was just not convenient to get to. The Taco with me in it is just too cramped for that nonsense.

I opted for a more natural and super convenient location. Naturally I dialed in the color to match.

    Color_Match.jpg

Not only is it stable here the heavy duty plastic velcro allows me to remove it when I am not using it and it is super easy to make sure it is pointing straight to operate correctly. It doesn't need to be level, just straight, but it just works out that way as well.

    Straight_On.jpg

I was afraid I might block the defrost vent but that is not an issue either.

    Defrost_Vent.jpg

    Defrost_Vent_2.jpg

The wire runs from under the dash, behind this moulding, and the ground is attached right here behind the kick plate (that now is back in place) to a point that the dash is connected to a tab that is part of the body so the ground is solid.

    Hidden_Wire.jpg

The fitment here might not be everyone's cup of tea being out in the open like this but being able to remove it and stow it is not an issue. The placement is so perfect I can almost touch the buttons without moving my hand completely off the steering wheel. The boost is not even an issue in an emergency situation and it allows me to keep my eyes on the road and not looking for the controller in some obscure place.

I need to take a load of yard debris to the landfill so I should be able to test it very soon with my trailer. I'll also feel more confident helping other members if they need a truck/trailer rig to move stuff.

You still need to pull the head unit though right? To tap into the back of the display wire? I was looking at the system being sold on here for $100. I kinda like the switches being on the steering wheel though. So you press two steering switches simultaneously then?

    This is the Tacomworld version:

I need to make it up there. My two buddies would likely come too. They have a 2nd gen TRD Pro and a 5th gen T4R. We all enjoy pew pews.
