What is this pink stuff?

Yes, they have to remove the dash. Big reason I traded my black 2016 SR5 in was because to clean my evap core they had to remove the dash. With all the hard plastic in this truck for them to gouge and scratch the hell out of...I figured I would get more for the truck with a pristine looking interior so I traded it off rather than let the service dept. have their fun.

 

OP, do you live where they salt the roads?

I know salt is white, but their was a massive shortage of road salt this year... Tons and Tons ofd salt was shipped here from the over seas and its pink..

The salt tent at work is full of big pink salt... and it does leave marks like on your carpet..

You have a kitchen COAL stove ? I've never even heard of that before. I've seen antique kitchen wood stoves but not coal. Wouldn't that smoke up the interior of the home? I tried Kerosene for a couple of weeks way back when jimmy carter was in , what a mess! It ruined everything in the house. The oil smell can't be cleaned out. I'd love to see a photo of the kitchen coal stove just to say I saw one.

 

Get an ohm meter out, put a few drops of water on the ‘salt’ and see what the resistance is. If it’s salt, it will be very low, probably zero or so.

Then sprinkle some on a candle flame - if its yellow, definately sodium based salt.

And most importantly, do the taste test. Post a pic of yourself doing it so we can verify results.

I'm in the middle of the rust belt of the east coast Western New York. Wouldn't rule out it being salt, but seems like a tough spot to get itself into.
