Your trailer harness probably combines the brake and turn signal and gives priority to the turn signal. You'd have to tap directly into your truck tail lights to make it work correctly. Or you could potentially wire in two relays to force the red brakes lights to turn on when both brake/turn signals are activated at the same time.

    Edit: And welcome to TacomaWorld!

    Welcome!

As @Rome604 stated, this is probably due to most trailer connections combining turn signal and brake. I tried doing the same install on my Tundra and ran into the same problem. I skipped the trailer connection

Thanks guys! I wired the RTL last night and checked everything. This morning the signal lights are reversed. If I signal left, the amber on the right flashes.

It was working properly last night, I couldn’t figure out how they swapped. Any clues? I took apart my trailer connector and swapped the two wires now it’s fine.

@Baja Designs What is the type/name of the connector used in your wiring harness? I would like to get the proper pin pulling tool.

I have a pair of Squadron Sports and the Tacoma fog light adapter, and want to pull the connector body off of the wiring harness and use it on the Tacoma harness.

    Thanks.

The Pentagon has a nice and big parking lot. I'm sure they wouldn't mind you doing aerial drone photography :D Northwest side even has a helipad you can use.

This doesn’t answer your question, but I was able to use their pins by just gently crimping it on with some needle nose, and soldering the two together. Saved me from buying the tool.

I was thinking it'd be cool to get the White House in the background....they're cool with that right?

I tapped the wire on my trailer brake controller harness in the cab. Made sense since I was running power from the switchpro up front.

You will. There's a lot of security features around DC that the general public don't generally know of, but very much exist.

VERY accurate CBRN detection, frequency sniffers, anti-drone tech, etc.

Langley Fork Park off the 123 is another great place for drone photography...

That doesn't answer the question Randall. They are Delphi Weather Pack Connectors. I don't have the crimping tool either and I've crimped and soldered probably 50 of those suckers on my truck. The removal tool is key though. Almost impossible to take them apart without it.

That IWISS tool I linked below in the items discussed portion has been one of the best 20 bucks I've spent in a while.

The only reason I haven't bought it is that I use a standard wire stripper/crimper and, as long as you do it in the correct order, then my crimps look identical to the ones that tool produces. And I keep telling myself that I'm almost done with adding stuff to the truck....

Also, I sent my chase bar in for a little bit of warranty work 2 weeks ago, and got it back today. Very pleased with the lack of hassle it took to get remedied. Just a simple phone call, and a trip to the post office.

I think it had a loose contact somewhere in the bar because sometimes it would work, and sometimes it wouldn't, but if you wiggled the power cable, it would turn on as intended. Based on the finish and a few other details, I'm pretty sure they just sent me a new one. :)

I'm pretty close to running out of things to put lights on, so I may be too.

I'm not done YET. And who knows what else I may use it for!

Plus I may pick up a 100 series land cruiser sometime in the future, and that's gonna need lights.

Thank you. The answer I was looking for...

I could easily cut and solder, but the Tacoma harness already has the pins crimped on. The lazy way is to just swap the pins in the connector body.

I assumed this from the tool mentioned... :p

Thanks for the recommendation. I need to get a crimper, as I am about to build a fuse/relay block for under the hood.

With the removal tool...only tip I can give you is to twist the removal tool as it goes into and out of the weather pack connector. If you shove it straight in and out then you risk the metal tube pulling out of the yellow handle. If that happens it's a huge pain in the ass to get things set right.
